TBH, we have not settled on pricing yet - we are meeting with sales partners at NAMM to finalize it - and yes, it will include our Ultimate Bundle and perhaps some other useful tools too

I too am holding out for the Copper Reference...I've had to recently downsize which meant a smaller mixer on my desk. The GC sales guy was trying to push one of the digital options because of the recording i/o capabilities. My 1st thought was I already have Motu ultralite hybrid & I want to purchase the Copper Reference when it comes out.
Have a good one,

Expensive going by the description.
It's boutique and more than equivalent hardware

Really puts the "bou" into boutique.
I hope they put out something more "low end" that integrates especially well with Tracktion.... Sort of the way the Presonus stuff works especially well with StudioOne.

So the price is expensive - and there are no direct comparisons - although you could look at boxes like the Benchmark DAC-2 which is $2k for just the DAC (no ADC or tube overdrive) and built in a basic case.
We are exploring the idea of selling an initial run of units directly to our own user base - by doing this direct, we can sell the unit for much less than going through distribution and sales partners - for those who are interested, sign up for more info on the CU Ref product page on our website - could be as much as 50% off the price that will be needed via traditional methods. There will be limited availability and the goal is to raise funds for wider production
I have seen folk fall into the wrong assumption that ADC/DAC's change frequently - this is a misconception - the silicon chips rarely change and the current best-of-the-best that we have sleeted are likely to hold that spot for a long time - the companies are focused on trying to reduce costs of the current performance - not improve on it. Plus we have specced the brand new Type-C USB connection so the I/O will work with everything for years to come
It really is remarkable what a difference having good convertors makes to your listening experience - certainly as important as a good set of monitors that can run into much higher investments

While I freely admit that I'm NOT one of few that would be anxious to get this high-end of an interface, the comparison to good monitors probably isn't the best comparison. While the monitors are important, they aren't really part of the signal chain; while the Copper interface IS part of your signal chain, and it's quality will have a real impact; both on recording a clean signal; and producing final output (if the final output is sent to analog output devices).
