Startup freeze / get stuck in startup

Searched the forum, but couldn't find anything about this.

After getting my Qu4ttro today, I started it up and played some of the sounds. I shut the receptor down (twice on power). Now the second time I start Receptor up, it freezes or hangs in the Second startup window. See attachment. I should say that the first startup window seems fine, and all the buttons light up as they should.

Anyone knows what to do? Help!

Hi
This has happened to me once or twice.

Switch of the machine .By holding in the power button.
Pull all the cables out.(usb monitor mouse etc)
Leave the receptor switched off a few minutes.
switch it back on withought any cables connected.
it should start up.-

Good luck /Andy

Thanks, Andy.

I didn't have anything (key, lcd, mouse) connected when it occurred. It was only on the second start up. It happened only 10 minuttes after unboxing the Qu4ttro. I then tried connecting an lcd to see whats happening, but I can't make sense of it. I'm not use to pc (I'm on mac). I made a Muse ticket and hope for fast help : )

Hi,
I have a Receptor 2 Pro + and this happened to me. I was told by one the techs at Muse to just keep it on for awhile because it was going through a file analysis. Well, it worked. I waited about 15 minutes and it continued on through the opening procedure.

Thanks.

Muse helped me with a code. It was apparantly due to a wrong shut down. It's working now.

Happy new year : )

Just in case anyone else encounters this, there is a really rare situation where when the system is not shut down properly, the variable for the backup drive does not get set properly and a white screen appears on boot up with a command prompt. This is really really rare, but if it does happen, you can simply reset the drive path by typing in the following (watch for capitalization!):

rdm-set-session.sh Musician rm-host

(Press enter key)

rdm.sh

(Enter key again)

The system will now boot and the problem won't occur again as long as you shut down the system properly by clicking the power button twice in succession!

I've had the same issue on a Pro Max. I posted a while back about it crashing at rehearsal. I brought it home, ran it thru it's paces for several days, went to the next rehearsal and it wouldn't boot at all- got the screen the o/p posted. Brought it home, eventually I got it to boot to an error code and ran the advanced diags, disk utilities, etc. It got to where it was loading the mixer and the initial patch and it spent all night (I left it on til the next morning) going between the splash screen and the mixer screen where it was trying to load. I power cycled it and it finally booted, and has booted ok since, but I've had to many issues with reliability on this to use it in a live situation.

To top it off, the ilok went bad and now all of my licensed plugins won't work. Ilok has horrible support. Since I bought it used, the 1st thing they wanted before they would even help me was $100 to transfer the ilok to my name, then I get the pleasure of emailing all the plugin companies asking to have the licenses transferred to me so ilok can load them onto a new one. Then I can pay $50 for a new ilok.

I opened a ticket with Muse support for the actual issues with the Receptor and I'm not getting much help. 10 days ago I got 1 reply, which said this:

Unfortunately it is hard to support used Receptors as I don't have any idea what kind of condition the Receptor was in before you bought it. It is very possible that there are some errors on the disk that the check cannot detect. It may be worth trying to reseat the RAM as well. It could be software the original user tried to install or it simply is the age of the HD.

?Seriously? The age of the HD? The former owner? It worked flawlessly for him and Muse themselves did upgrades and installed a new hard drive in it for him along with new plugins- he's never installed anything on it, and neither have I. I have yet to hear anything else, after I've posted 2 more responses to my ticket. I've reseated all the hardware components (I'm an IT person by trade and the insides of this are really nothing, it's a PC). Of course it has been running fine at home, but every time I take it to rehearsal I have issues. At this point, I'm never going to use it in a live situation, it's not worth the hassle. Between the lack of response by Muse- I asked about cloning the disk to a new one if they think that's the problem- no response, and the ilok grab for money before they do anything, I'm pretty much done with this thing. It can sit in my basement studio and get fired up once in a while. I wouldn't even feel right selling it at this point, because I'd just be passing on problems to someone else. It's not like I'm asking for them to fix it for free, I'll pay to have it repaired, but based on the response I got above, it's like they don't really want to help, and would rather write it off as a user issue or old hardware.
