I'm new here, so bear with me. Tried to search for mac issues here, but could only find older posts.
I just got the Qu4ttro with the Audiobox 1818. Beside having it on the road, I want to use it in my studio, especially to free up my macs cpu. I can't figure out if I need Uni Wire or if that's outdated. So any suggestions on how to configure and set it up will be really appreciated.
My setup is this
MACBOOK PRO (late 2013) 2.3 Ghz intel core i7
OS 10.10.5 (yosemite)
2 thunderbolts, 2 usb, 1 hdmi
I can connect to internet both wired (ethernet/thunderbolt or ethernet/usb adaptor) and wireless.
SOFTWARE
PRO TOOLS 9 and LOGIC PRO X
INTERFACE
RME 400 INTERFACE (connected to mac via firewire to thunderbolt). I will of course in the future rather use
PRESONUS AUDIOBOX 1818, when I get the hang of it.
ROUTER
1 AIRLINK 11ac router (4x LAN 1x net) 802.11.ac
2 AIRPORT EXPRESS router
Cheers and happy new year from Copenhagen

Hello
Did you get your Qu4ttro working ? what was the problem.???
you can use the Uniwire with your Qu4ttro but only in the older "mixer mode "on your Qu4ttro.There is no support for it in the new "Rack mode"
I think Muse have stopped development of Uniwire.
I use mine as a standalone synth module and fx unit in my studio its in rack mode in the studio.
When i use it live its in mixer mode and i use my ipad runing set list maker to send program change messages to it.
You will not be able to use your presonus as an Audio interface for your receptor and your mac at the same time so keep the rme for the mac.
Unless of course if you just use the receptors onboard audio outs. And use the presonus on your mac.
regards Andy

Thanks, Andy. Your help is much appreciated.
Yes, I solved the problem with help from Muse. It was apparently due to a wrong shutdown. It's working now.
Regarding mac setup, I was hoping I could see Receptor as a plugin in my daw. If I can't use it in my daw, but only as a standalone, I should've got the VIP instead of Qu4ttro. Especially also if the Audiobox is useless in my setup. Initially I wanted the Receptor for live purpose only. But the freeing of computers cpu, made the qu4ttro more attractive.
So uni wire only works in mixer mode? Although I like the layout in rack mode much better, I'd might use mixer mode to get uni wire. Where can I download uni wire? Does it come with the Muse Receptor tool? Are there many disadvantages with the mixer mode vs rack mode? A shame they didn't keep developing the Uni Wire.
What about the usb hub (that comes with qu4ttro) I'm supposed to connect Receptor to Presonus (to prevent audio pops). Couldn't that serve as a hub, where I connect my mac (and maybe MIDI/usb keyboard) as well?
So what you suggest is I just connect my daw/mac to Presonus/RME, and then MIDI to Receptor, and then ADAT out (or audio out) back to Presonus/RME ? I won't be able to see Receptor as a plugin, but at least I can control some automation (volume) from my daw?
I'm also trying to figure out how to set up the router thing with ethernet. I just bought a now router, as I can't use my airport express. But that's another story.. : ) Initially I thought that I could wire my mac via a thunderbolt/ethernet adaptor to the Receptors ethernet. That would've been nice and easy : )

Hello Again
I wll try to answer your questions.
(Regarding Mac setup, I was hoping I could see Receptor as a plugin in my daw. If I can't use it in my daw, but only as a standalone, I should've got the VIP instead of Qu4ttro. Especially also if the Audiobox is useless in my setup. Initially I wanted the Receptor for live purpose only. But the freeing of computers CPU, made the qu4ttro more attra)
answers:You will be able to see and use your Receptor as a plugin in your daw if you use Uniwire, but only in mixer mode as Uniwire only supports Mixer mode.
As far as i known there are 2 other limitations when it comes to Uniwire and mixer mode.
A.Uniwire Runs only 32 bit plugins.
B.Mixer Mode will only run 32 bit plugins.
The 32 bit limitation in mixer mode means also that Only roughly 4 gigs of ram can be used by the plugins.
When I play live I use Mix mode because Rack mode does not respond well to program change messages I sometimes use The rack mode but only if I don't need to change patches allot I have a very large stage rig 2 receptors and 3 hardware synths, I hate pressing buttons so everything is programmed in my ipad using set list maker.
Rack mode can run either 64 or 32 bit plugins or a mixture of 32 and 64 bit plugins it will allocate 4 gig blocks of ram to 32 bit plugs and use the rest for any 64 bit plugs you are runing. But It will not run Uniwire.
You will Find Uniwire in the receptor tools .
(What about the USB hub (that comes with qu4ttro) I'm supposed to connect Receptor to Presonus (to prevent audio pops). Couldn't that serve as a hub, where I connect my Mac (and maybe MIDI/USB keyboard) as well?)
Answers:The presonus is an I.O unit for the Receptor when it is attached to the unit think of it as being part of the receptor. As far as I known The hub that muse ship with it is a filter to stop cracks and pops its not like a USB hub that you can attach other perifials to.
(So what you suggest is I just connect my daw/Mac to Presonus/RME, and then MIDI to Receptor, and then ADAT out (or audio out) back to Presonus/RME ? I won't be able to see Receptor as a plugin, but at least I can control some automation (volume) from my daw?)
Awnser:I Have roughly the same setup as You, I run A Qu4ttro Through the presonus, and my Daw(Cubase 8)and a Receptor Pro Max through An RME fireface 800.I sometimes Run the Spdif of the presonus to my Rme.But mostly i use the aolouge outs of the presonus it is a very flexible unit.
I don't use Uniwire now a days.
If i use the receptors in My daw i send Program/Control change messages to them using the daw i do not need a graphical representation of them.
(I'm also trying to figure out how to set up the router thing with Ethernet. I just bought a now router, as I can't use my airport express. Answers:Ifyou want to use Uniwire you will have to get your network up and running.
I use Mac and Pc as follows Cable outlet -Router -Mac-PC -NAS-Receptor 1 -receptor 2.All these are wired not Wifi.
Make sure the receptor network dialog is set to Auto.
You can connect the receptor directly to a computer using the red crossover cable that came with the unit. But you will need to change the network to crossover in the receptor.
I wll try to answer your questions.

Thanks, Andy. You've been a huge help. Everything is beginning to work fine.
Another Q:
I'm trying to install some of my kontakt libraries into Receptor, but the kontakt 5.3 inside Receptor needs to be updated, in order to work with my new libraries like REV. I just downloaded the 5.5.1 update (pc file) from NI to my mac. Do you know in which folder it goes or is there a better way to update the Receptors kontakt?
Cheers,
F

Hi
Kontakt 5.5 is not yet compatible with the receptor. So ime afraid you will have to wait until muse fix the issue.
We are all waiting for the fix.
so dont try to upgrade past 5,3 to 5,5 as it wont work and you will mess up your installation.

Hi
I hope they fix this soon.
There are a couple of posts on the forum concearning this.
It basicaly means that you cant install Ni Komplete 10.
Apparently the issue is a broblem with a couple of run time librarys (windows dll files) that are not compatible with Receptors Wine vst engine.
Lots of people are very pissed of about it,so i dare say it will be resolved soon.
Unless Muse decide ti f... Us all over by releasing yet another receptor, you have to buy in order to run complete 10 ,but i doubt this is the case i am shure they are working on the fix as we speak .
"Arent you guys"????
If you want to install Omnisphere 2 the same thing there .A fix is hopefully in the pipline.
All the best Andy

Yes, hope they fix this soon. The new things in Komplete 10 looks interesting.
Another thing about Kontakt (sorry, but you're my go-to-expert these days haha). I installed a lot of my kontakt libraries on the Receptors drive. I do it simply by dragging folders from my mac to Receptors sample folder (Receptor/c/samples). Everything worked fine. Even my own samples worked. I then had a crash report when I tried to open one of my own libraries in Kontakt, but nothing happened, and it worked fine for 12 hours. But now the GUI freezes when I try to drag the Kontakt into the rack. All the other synth plugs works fine (Absynth, FM8 etc). They don't freeze. I've erased off course the last imported folders from the Receptors drive again, restarted the Receptor several times, but it's still freezing when I drag Kontakt into the rack. Do you have you any idea whats happening, and maybe how to solve it? Maybe what file I should look for in Receptors drive?
Cheers
Frank

Hi
Are the librarys you are "draging"autherised on your receptor.?
If they are not they might cause a crash.
what do you mean when you say "my own samples".?
If you use the NI service center from within your receptor make shure you use the "use another computer" choice to autherise librarys.
Dont allow the service center to download and install upgrades it will mess things up.
for some reason there are certain librarys that need to be first loaded into kontakt 3 before they will show up in kontakt 5.
i knowe that sounds strange but it is true. If you dont have Kontakt 3 put in a ticket an muse will send you a link to it.If you are lucky iyou will find it in your plugin list.
Simply load your library into K3 wait for it to show up.
Close k3 losd k5 and the library will show up.

By wy own samples I mean my own samples/instruments (nki). I didn't install upgrades. I don't have Kontakt 3.
It's really strange. I just won't load. It freezes when I try to pull the kontakt player into the Rack mode. What's more strange is, that I can only see the Kontakt (all 3 of them - kontakt 5 - kontakt 5 16out - kontakt 5 64 out) in rack mode. Theres no Kontakt in mixer mode.
The "only" thing I did was to drag libraries from my mac to Receptors sample folder (Receptor/c/samples). Hmmm.. What did I do. And it went so well and everything was playing : )
Is there anything I can look for in the Receptor drive? Cookies? Temps? Logs?

Judging by what you have writen i think that the Kontakt 5 instances you can see in rack are 64 bit versions.
Is the Intellibrige function in:Rack mode.?
Go"Setup"-"software manager"-"System"-Intellibridge 64 bit plugins on" enabled ? if not enable it.
Intelibridge enables Rack mode to see and use both 32 and 64 bit plugs.
Mix mode can only use 32bit plugs so you may need to do a rescan in mixer mode.
Try this:
1:Start your receptor in mix mode.
2:Turn of multicore and Z-load.
3:press the "run utility"dialog in the install setion of the mixer mode setup window.
This will initialise a plugin scan.
Let it run and press ignore in awnser to any dialog, unless it asks you about one of the kontakt 32 bit plugins.
In that case awnser use the 32 bit version.
The ree scan will find your missing kontakt plugs .They should appear in your mixmode plugin list after the scan and maybee a ree boot.

YES! That did the trick. Thanks, Andy - from the bottom of my Receptor-rookie-heart.
The dialog box said that there were doublets (from Absynt, AAS, FM8 to all Kontakt), and I had the option of either choosing 32 or 64 bit, or "don't change". I chose 32 bit to them all. I hope that doesn't mean, that I don't get the advantage of all 16 GB RAM. Should I have just done it with Kontakt?

Hello
In Rack mode you can use either 32 or 64 bit plugs or a mixture of both if intelli brige is enabled .!you will be able to access all of the memory with 64bit plugs and a 4 gig block with 32 bit plugs.
In mix mode as it is 32 bit you will only be able to access 4 gb ram this is the case in all 32 bit os.
I wouldnt worry about it i use mix mode allot and it is quite good at caching the samples if z-load is on.
Hopefully you should no see both 64 and 32 bit plugs in rack mode now.
If i where you i would make a backup of your Hd now.
Happy Receptoring.

Fantastisk! Bra idé, det gör jag. Tack.
