T6 Updates for Mac

Hi all,

Seems like I've had this problem before, but I can't recall how to get around it. I'm currently running Tracktion 6.0.23 64 bit on an older macbook with El Capitan. When I try to download the latest version and install it, the same old version runs when I start it up from the app folder. I've tried both options when the mac installer offers to either keep both versions or remove the old one with no difference. What am I missing here? Is there an uninstall procedure I should go through before installation? I always get paranoid uninstalling because I don't want to lose my configs and stuff...

Delete the old app before installing. It won't change any settings.

Hmmm, tried that (deleting the old app from the applications folder), and the installer still complained of a duplicate. The funny thing is when I look in the app folder for it after installing, it's not there. I was hoping I just had the procedure wrong, but maybe I have bigger problems on my local machine...

Tried restarting after deleting the old app. It helped. Now when prompted to replace or install alongside the old app, it opened a finder window to the app folder in my home folder instead of the app folder at the root level of my HDD. There I could see all the copies and stuff I made and got it squared away. Strange that my original install went one place and updates went elsewhere. At least I know what to look for now. Thanks for the suggestions.
