Well, I liked your draft. Nice technoish, minimal.

2:37 is where some magic starts happening for me. Very cool part.

After 2:37 it would be nice to have some subtle melodic layers added in here or there.

Percussion is good, though I imagine the tune could really benefit from the kick bass having a few extra layers to give it more snap, and mid.

I'd prefer the song start at 1:22, to keep energy flowing, and high attention.

Nice work so far :tu:

So I've got all the Melda freebie mixing plugs. I'm nit sure if that came with a demo of this synth....I'll have to go home and check it out. Anyone else know about this? Are they seperate downloads? Or is Melda a bundle download?

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this but i never experienced this phenomena with any of my other VSTI's.

When i demoed the 1000 odd presets they sounded great and i bookmarked alot of them. Then i started a 4 to the floor tech house arrangement. I thought that this was a bit strange that the kick drum sounded a bit differant once i loaded a new instance of MPS but i left it cause i thought that the kick drum was still cool enough. Then i got frustrated cause i felt the song was going nowhere so i abandoned it but saved it.

Then i thought to try something new and differant to circular chord/melodic composition and tried something ambient as there some stunning modulated pads.. well the first pad when down and everthing sounded cool, but then when i layerd the second and third pad i noticed that the movements and modulations stopped and the whole sound seemed to change and morph into something lifeless and dead... I then checked if i had not not by accident changed the presets but they were not changed at all. Any ideas why this could have happend?

My pc is 3ghz dual core,
windows xp 32bit
4gb ram
Sonar 8.5 pro

I know this is maybe kinda old specs. But i did not expect the synth to change or morph its sound as i layerd more instances?

:help:

An audio demo of the problem would be cool

I'm going to try to get something done this month. I hope to carve out time! Appreciate the Mac friendly software BJ.

Lost Ancestors preset Whale like modulations missing after sequenced playback

Lost Ancestors preset Whale like modulations while previewing presets Live.

did this with only one instance of Melda to prevent any other interferences of multiple instance but the differances is still prominent :scared:

Nice, welcome back! Even though it means I'll end up one position further down :D

The download is all-in-one, just re-run the installer, or better yet download the newest, 9.14.

@BJPorter, and the others that pointed it out, I had forgotten about the multisampling, and the spectral analyzer, as I never really use them, but my bad for not checking on the diffs again before posting. Thanks for clarifying.
I have found an even more legit option, and that is to deactivate the license. I just tested it and the license can be re-activated without issue. I am not aware if this has some limit on times tried or anything, but I have not seen anything from Melda to that effect anywhere. Since this works, it would at least resolve the oversampling issue, though the spectral analyzer could theoretically be used and then the license deactivated before bouncing the audio...not to be a Debbie Downer about it...just being up front.
I will be doing this myself at any rate, so if my FLP is ever called for, the sound of the plugs is guaranteed to be the same as when I generated them myself.

ontrackp wrote:I have a programming question for any MPower experts.

Is there a way to use midi velocity to control the volume of just one oscillator? It doesn't seem to come up as a modulation source in the modulators -- they are focused on the LFO's or a custom envelope -- both have lots of great options, but I can't find a simple midi modulation source selector.

Thanks.
Unfortunately it looks like it just has velocity on or off if you click on the MIDI control area on the bottom right, that you can then use to control a multi parameter.

PS: It is great to be able to put other instances of MPowerSyth in as an effect (complete with it's own effects section). Using the " Modular " effect (an effect section inside the effects section) is also nice to consolidate things.
Thanks.

Post your tunes updates here, for feedback/critique!
Hehe yeah I thought I had earlier, here is my little idea so far ~ https://clyp.it/eyr5pgd0

I admit I like the sound of this synth, in particular the percussion actually sounds as good as sampled percussion which was a nice surprise for me. But I'm not too sure how to actually use the synth, like I couldn't figure out how to edit the arp, and my automation thus far has been constrained to the mod wheel.

I'm just not sure how much time to invest in this synth though because it's a bit too expensive for me to consider investing in and the demo is only 30 days so I may just jam out some ideas and bounce them.

I guess I could try to polish this idea more and enter it into the contest, I just know I'll be disappointed if people don't like it, but hopefully I've had some quality improvement since the last couple OSCs I've entered. I doubt I'd actually win a prize but I'm just looking to make a song good enough to finish in the top 50% vs the bottom 5%.
Happy new year and welcome back! I'm happy to offer my feedback, but bear in mind that I usually score near the very bottom as well. My impression is that, while there are a few OSC entrants (myself included) who quite enjoy techno & loop-based music in general, the "average" OSC voter looks for progression, harmony, and catchy, yet original, melodies. (3 things I personally find very challenging) Your track, while sounding quite good and with an excellent groove, on a quick listen sounds like maybe half a dozen loops layered over one groove. I'd expect you'd need, like, chord progressions, and for the melodic riffs to follow the progressions, as a minimum. And start, or at least tease, the progressive melodic stuff early: voters often skip after maybe a minute or so (and admit it in the forum here). I'd also suggest a bit less distortion, as the kick+bass combo sounds dirty to me, but that's totally personal. Just my 2 cents (which is probably worth less than a US penny at the moment).

As for MPowerSynth in general, I'd've never tried it if not for this OSC, because it's expensive and complex. However, it turns out the complexity is reasonably well organized, very well documented (thanks goodness), and quite powerful. I've only made bread & butter sounds so far, but they are expensive-sounding sounds. :P The arpeggiator, while a total WTF at first, is worth reading the docs and pondering a bit, as it's actually an incredible beast that will form the heart of my track. Or maybe the soul. At any rate, it's brilliant.

Anyone else having a hard time downloading this stuff? It seems so cryptic. I've never had anything like this and I have a lot of plugins. I chose the google drive route, I'm on mac, and using firefox.

It took a really long time to unlock filed in google drive and I get what you see in the attachment.

Only none of the links do anything. I get nothing that looks at all like Melda's tutorials.

Help! Thanks.

Do the direct download? You just need to extract and run the installer app. I had no issue on Mac.
