2:37 is where some magic starts happening for me. Very cool part.SoundGoddess wrote:Alright I went ahead and submitted this track, please offer feedback, I want to improve

After 2:37 it would be nice to have some subtle melodic layers added in here or there.
Percussion is good, though I imagine the tune could really benefit from the kick bass having a few extra layers to give it more snap, and mid.
I'd prefer the song start at 1:22, to keep energy flowing, and high attention.
Nice work so far

Nice, welcome back! Even though it means I'll end up one position further downjasinski wrote:I'm going to try to get something done this month. I hope to carve out time! Appreciate the Mac friendly software BJ.
The download is all-in-one, just re-run the installer, or better yet download the newest, 9.14.EDGEK8D wrote:So I've got all the Melda freebie mixing plugs. I'm nit sure if that came with a demo of this synth....I'll have to go home and check it out. Anyone else know about this? Are they seperate downloads? Or is Melda a bundle download?
Thanks.zappsunzorn wrote:Unfortunately it looks like it just has velocity on or off if you click on the MIDI control area on the bottom right, that you can then use to control a multi parameter.ontrackp wrote:I have a programming question for any MPower experts.
Is there a way to use midi velocity to control the volume of just one oscillator? It doesn't seem to come up as a modulation source in the modulators -- they are focused on the LFO's or a custom envelope -- both have lots of great options, but I can't find a simple midi modulation source selector.
Thanks.
PS: It is great to be able to put other instances of MPowerSyth in as an effect (complete with it's own effects section). Using the " Modular " effect (an effect section inside the effects section) is also nice to consolidate things.
Happy new year and welcome back! I'm happy to offer my feedback, but bear in mind that I usually score near the very bottom as well. My impression is that, while there are a few OSC entrants (myself included) who quite enjoy techno & loop-based music in general, the "average" OSC voter looks for progression, harmony, and catchy, yet original, melodies. (3 things I personally find very challenging) Your track, while sounding quite good and with an excellent groove, on a quick listen sounds like maybe half a dozen loops layered over one groove. I'd expect you'd need, like, chord progressions, and for the melodic riffs to follow the progressions, as a minimum. And start, or at least tease, the progressive melodic stuff early: voters often skip after maybe a minute or so (and admit it in the forum here). I'd also suggest a bit less distortion, as the kick+bass combo sounds dirty to me, but that's totally personal. Just my 2 cents (which is probably worth less than a US penny at the moment).SoundGoddess wrote:Hehe yeah I thought I had earlier, here is my little idea so far ~ https://clyp.it/eyr5pgd0bjporter wrote:Post your tunes updates here, for feedback/critique!SoundGoddess wrote:I'm a little leery of these contests, I seem to always get close to last place so I'm hoping I can come up with something halfway decent.![]()
I admit I like the sound of this synth, in particular the percussion actually sounds as good as sampled percussion which was a nice surprise for me. But I'm not too sure how to actually use the synth, like I couldn't figure out how to edit the arp, and my automation thus far has been constrained to the mod wheel.
I'm just not sure how much time to invest in this synth though because it's a bit too expensive for me to consider investing in and the demo is only 30 days so I may just jam out some ideas and bounce them.
I guess I could try to polish this idea more and enter it into the contest, I just know I'll be disappointed if people don't like it, but hopefully I've had some quality improvement since the last couple OSCs I've entered. I doubt I'd actually win a prize but I'm just looking to make a song good enough to finish in the top 50% vs the bottom 5%.
