I just find it to be a little bit of an indirect process -- having to set up a Multiparameter just for velocity. Although there are a few dedicated velocity controls in the filter and oscillator sections I think.

All in all an interesting and somewhat unique sounding synth. The sound of it is pushing me towards more electronic and synthy sounds rather than trying to make it feel warm and organic.
Forget the warm and organic. This is without a doubt the most digital sounding synth I've ever worked on. It's like programming a robot.
It can do some warm sounds, quick dirty edit of my track, the bass sound I programmed sounds quite Moog like :)

Nice track, and the bass is moog like. But the feel of your track is very synthy, sequenced and electronic -- certainly not orchestral or like a live band. My point is that for me, the feel of the sounds this software makes are pushing me compositionally towards a more electronic composition. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's pretty darn digital.
OK I get you. Yeah its pretty "synthy" and that's why I like it :)
It's very much in the vain of an analog synth/modular but with a digital sound.
You can make it do otherwise, but it's a bit like asking an analog synth to do the same.
They can do it, certainly my Andromeda, and modulars can do some emulations, but not for everything.

Just uploaded my entry for this month. Had a lot of fun playing with this synth and although it is a bitch to navigate, it is capable of some wicked sounds.....that fx section is  Oh man, if that FX section could be used on audio ala Zebrify, I would buy it straight away!

DAW: Reaper 4
16 instances of MPowerSynth.
ReaEQ, FerricTDS

Well I did it, I finally figured out how to navigate the dark seas of MPowerSynth to do an LFO comb filter sweep. Although Bitwig's comb filter sounds better IMO I'm pretty happy with the results. Now I just need to figure out when and how to apply it better since it changes the dynamics of the song a bit.

I just give up....

After trying my best I realised that i wasted my time and effort.... Maybe I should read more carefully what the web site says before jumping into contests ie... Mpowersynth.. is only compatible with Sonar x1 and newer... NOT with my Sonar 8.5 pro. I don't have a budget to switch to another DAW like Presonus or Cubase and i don't know what alternative free DAW to consider so I humbly bow out.....

Maybe someone can recommend me a good free DAW for future contests if run into a similar situation?

Mulab, the free version if your prepared to bounce to audio when reaching the "free" limit or Podium
Beauty is only skin deep,
Ugliness, however, goes right the way through

You could always run reaper for 60 days as a trial, it is unrestricted with just a nag screen when you load. It is a little odd workflow to get used to for some, but it works great.

This synth is huge! More stuff than a life size teddy bear. Gonna be hard to just get my head around it........

After a week or so of using MPowerSynth, it really is something special... but not all in a good way. As mehum said, it really is "anti-workflow"; to the extent that it's almost a textbook case of how not to design a software synthesiser. There are these pop up windows that appear all over the place (I have dual monitors on my Mac and the windows have an annoying tendency to appear right over the join between the monitors, making it impossible to grab their title bars to move them into view), functions all over the place crammed in where ever they fit, too many "Advanced" buttons with hidden functionality... it's a total mess. After a while you get by just relying on remembering where everything is, but wow... this is how not to make a synthesiser interface.

With all that said though, it sounds excellent! Also despite being "anti-workflow", the functionality that is immediately available makes it easy and fun to quickly create custom waveforms. Regardless of whether you know what you're doing or you're just twiddling, you're immediately rewarded with quirky results. And that effects section... holy moly. Since when does a synth even need its own spectrum analyser, or even the ability to spawn off instances of itself??!! :D :D

My song is crawling along, but I'm really really looking forward to hearing what everyone else is coming up with!

Here's my entry this month:

https://soundcloud.com/ontrackp/ontrack ... -264306810

27 instances of MPowerSynth in Logic. Combination of original sounds and presets (the leads, the kick and normal sounding snare are tweaked presets, pretty much everything else is from the init patch).

This song turned out to be a series of vignettes. I think it still holds together, but I'm being pulled in a lot of different directions right now and I think this reflects that.

It took a few days to get accustomed to the layout of this synth, but after the learning curve it got fun and a little addictive. After about 15 instances I had to start freezing tracks. If they come through with a good discount I would definitely purchase this.

Enjoy!

I've creates a few patches for MPowerSynth, various kinds:-

Yup, I hear you and agree on this. I was looking for warmer/organic sounds - but it IS very digital in it's sounds. I have a few basic tracks worked out, but once I stick this synth on the individual tracks I find it very hard to get anything near the sounds I want. So, it'll probably be electronic for me too. Now I just have to go and spend the next 2 weeks creating something new - this time DoctorBob will be up against the deadline for sure!

FYI I was working on something a bit Bossa styled, but you need nice mellow sounds and they just won't come. Then I moved towards a Stride type of thing with a lot more keys and short attack based stuff, still no dice. Finally a Jazz styled piece with planned trombone and trumpet solos - nah, not happening. But ... at least I have 3 rough drafts now for the next OSC's hehe!

Cheers,

dB

Hi there! Cheers for the submission; please list the track info like others have on this thread: number of instances, other plugins used, DAW, etc.! And welcome to OSC! :)
