Hi,
Tested Beatzille in Ardour 3.5 , Ubuntu 14 LTS 64 bit.

1) Severity B :
I'm getting a crash when right-mouse-clicking into the oscillosope frame.

2) Severity C:

Beatzille is listed in Ardour plugin-manager under manufacturer "u" instead of "u-he".

Don't right-click into oscilloscope :clown:

(we'll try to fix it but can't say when)

Please report to authors of Ardour, they need to fix their drop downs!

here is the Console output, maybe it helps finding the bug.

Code: Select all

Preset for rev 3798 loaded into rev 3905
stateInfoLevel level back to 0
AM_AudioMan::reset()
AM_View_Interface::storeViewState() Caterwaul.h2p
validateUndo
AM_ViewControl_StateUndo::end()
extern_setParameter with NULL value
extern_setParameter with NULL value
empty wire sequence set
RESEQUENCE!
MouseUp Without Tracking

AM_ViewMan::handleMouseDown
AM_ViewMan::addUndoObject inUndoObject == 0: 0
validateUndo
currentUndoObject->__end( true ) == false
undoObject Change Parameter reports invalid!

MouseUp Without Tracking

Hi,

I can confirm and expand the oscilloscope bug in Ardour 4.4.0 and Bitwig 1.3.5 on Linux Xubuntu 15.10 XFCE 4.12.

What is worse on my system Beatzille crashes on every button push which should bring up a popup menu (osc waveform, the u-he logo with links to homepage etc)

So I can turn knobs and patch cables, yaay :)

Strangely the Bazille demo works flawless.

Code: Select all

AM_VST_Editor::getRect 940 x 720
first draw time since ViewMan started 0.00
AM_ViewMan::handleMouseDown
AM_ViewMan::addUndoObject inUndoObject == 0: 0
M_Select 2
AM_ViewMan::sortMenus() is not yet ready to go (Cocoa menu Index bug)
validateUndo
currentUndoObject->__end( true ) == false
undoObject Change Parameter reports invalid!

MouseUp Without Tracking

pure virtual method called
terminate called without an active exception

In Bitwig 8 track latest version and also Renoise latest version, I get an immediate crash whenever I try to right click inside the GUI of Beatzille (101Linux)

Kind of annoying as this means Midi learn is much more difficult to do.

In 8 track only Beatzille crashes, in Renoise the whole DAW shuts down.

I've tried it out in the latest version of Ubuntu Studio, running 64 bits

I had a problem with an earlier build of Hive that was very similar to what you are experiencing. I was using Bitwig as the host though, not Ardour. In your install directory, it should be something like:

Code: Select all

/home/yourusername/.u-he/Bazille
there should be two executables named dialog.32 and dialog.64. Right click them and select "properties". go to the "permissions" tab. Check your permissions, and make sure that the box "Allow executing file as a program" is checked.

It turned out that when I just copied the downloaded files to that directory, rather than using the install script, that my permissions weren't set up properly- so any time I right clicked in the GUI for Hive (and I think I made the same mistake with a Bazille update at the time too) the plug-in would crash. Checking that box fixed it for me. Maybe that will help you out too? Good luck! :tu:
