This came from the morph thread. An audio to midi plug, or enhancement to M auto pitch.

Use case is pretty awesome... send audio signal into MXXX, add audio to midi module, have the midi control a power synth in MXXX, morph the output of that with the original input. This creates an output signal that's a pitch tracked synth morph, so much potential.

Beat me to it. Poor Vojtech, we ask so much of him :love: :x :love:

By now we're completely in the realm of paid-for melda plug. I'd gladly pay for this, for sure.

My ideas for MTranscribe:

* Same input detector as MAutoPitch
* MIDI Output module in that follows the input detector, as low latency as possible
* Freq low/high setting for detector module
* Amplitude setting (noise floor) for pitch detector
* Slider/knob for output octave
* slider/knob for output transpose
* slider/knob for output sustain.
* Scale outgoing velocity by incoming gain - need ceiling, range, and trim control
* By necessity it would have to be monophonic
* Channel assignment for output, 1-16

If anyone can do it, Vojtech can.

I don't get it?

Hehe actually it is not really planned :o :D. MTuner can do very basic thing, but in general it's best to use the host to detect it, it can do that offline with much higher precision. Highlevel hosts such as Cubase can do that for a long time I believe.

I haven't tried MPowerSynth yet, but perhaps it can already track pitch and apply that to the oscillators? MOscillator can do this. So in this way, audio to midi conversion would not be needed (and would follow more accurate than midi perhaps).

Good idea. However unfortunately the mods in MPS are only 3. Normal/Envelope/Random. The other two require an audio input which MPS doesn't have.

What about in MXXX?

Post

Yes, I thought that too, after I posted.

It would, I think, have even better results than converting pitch to midi. As pitch to midi snaps the pitch to the nearest semitone. But if we use the pitch mod to track the pitch and modulate an oscillator, we could get a more accurate representation of the original audio.

Ericzang your idea might work.

Actually if you simply want "singing oscillator", there is even a preset for it in MOscillator - it uses 2 modulators, one for pitch tracking and other as level follower ;). You can definitely do much more with that in MXXX.

Nice! I'm going to try that out. Morphing the two could create some really interesting results!

Ah, I see what you mean now, yes it works but only with the Oscillator. I would LOVE to be able to do this with powersynth inside MXXX. It can ALMOST do it, it just needs to be able to be set to 'auto on', like the oscillator is. Currently it needs a midi note to switch on.

Yes, the above would not trigger the envelopes in powersynth, but you can use MXXX's modulators to control that with their envelopes.... man, i love Melda stuff, there is always a way to do what you want. In this case, we just need powersynth to have an 'always on' switch in MXXX.

I understand this is probably not important to most people though so it would be low priority. I'd be happy to make a kick ass MXXX preset with all this stuff setup though :) The result would be that you can drop MXXX on a track and it would morph the input signal with a pitch and volume tracked powersynth version of the input, now THAT is interesting!

Aaaaand, on further looking into this (sorry for the repeat posts), the oscillator has a frequency control in straight up hertz, powersynth doesnt, so maybe it's not as straight forward as I thought. You'd have to 'tune' powersynth to the right range using the octave setting and then the pitch tracking would control the semitone setting, only working to -24 to +24 semitones... so maybe this is a lost cause.

Post

Actually that just won't be possible, the synth is just made to deal with notes, sorry. But you can program most of it there using multiple oscillators etc. probably.

Yeah, you're right. I spent some time with this yesterday and realised I wouldn't need powersynth after all. Thanks. However, that has shown up an issue I have with the pitch modulator, I'll make a new thread.
