U he synths hz and ms instead of 0-127

currently I only have presswerk and the free beatzille. I'm planning on buying the full bazille, but one thing that annoys me with the u he synths I've tested is that they don't display hz for filters or ms for envelopes. Is there a setting to change this?
Thx

I've been using their stuff for over ten years, I keep asking for the same thing.

The scale of Zebra VCF Cutoff is in semitones, according to the manual (discovered this yesterday).
Cutoff
The Cutoff parameter determines the filter’s edge-frequency. Like all frequency parame- ters in Zebra2, the scale is in semitones – tuning cutoff in musical terms makes more sense than the more scientific ‘Hertz’. Cutoff values correspond to standard MIDI note numbers minus 12 (one octave), so 81.00 means a middle A (440Hz) before any modulation.

We have an internal project called "parameter units". While pretty much all of our parameters correspond to somewhat meaningful units, they're not always displayed. So we're going to display them.
Part of this is that we'll add some sort of "type identifier" to each parameter. This will happen "as we go", whenever we work on a module or on a plug-in, since we have thousands of parameters to update.
Moreover, since some conversions such as MIDI notes to Hz in filters or equalizers are requested oftenly, we might be able to add a preference if and whenever that's possible.
However, for envelope rate/time parameters I'm a bit on the fence. I don't think there really is a set standard on how to measure actual rates or times since these are exponential and codependent. The slope and perceived duration of the decay phase directly depends on the sustain level. Likewise, the release time and rate depend on the envelope level at gate off. Each manufacturer who puts meaningful metrics around their knobs and faders seems to make those up, i.e. visualize those units according to their own system. I'm not sure if I would like to do that, I'd much rather visualize envelopes graphically for a rough picture, albeit one that shows the dependencies.

That's fine if you use standard equal tuning.waltercruz wrote:The scale of Zebra VCF Cutoff is in semitones, according to the manual (discovered this yesterday).

But i use 432 pythagorean, so sometimes i want to enter an exact frequency.
I can say straight out - if U-He plugins had the option to see a frequency or a snap timing ('3/8ths' etc) upon a mouse-over instead of a 1-100 value, I probably wouldn't have sold any of them. I feel like it takes too long to get where I'm going with a U-He plugin. I love the sounds, but the UIs are too often off-putting for me.
Sometimes I AM purely scientific with my music, and taking into account the amount of time I get to spend with my music - If I can do something or sort something out with a quick glance and tweak, then I at least FEEL like I'm working quickly. 1-100 just feels wrong to me.

Nah... apart from the woo-factor of A432 in theory as well as practice (rather silly if you ask me), Pythagorean tuning is too inflexible - try playing anything non-modal. Anything harmonically adventurous and you're screwed.sqigls wrote:you should try it some time. or you're too rooted in the norm?Howard wrote:Commiserations!sqigls wrote:But i use 432 pythagorean...

Well that is awesome, does it exist as an .exe for standalone/windows ? (asking because I don't have internet access in my studio)exmatproton wrote:http://www.u-he.com/scripting/Arprestrictor.php <---?

No idea. I don't (have to) use it. Just found on the netKr3eM wrote:Well that is awesome, does it exist as an .exe for standalone/windows ? (asking because I don't have internet access in my studio)exmatproton wrote:http://www.u-he.com/scripting/Arprestrictor.php <---?

Just save the page locally as a html file and you can open it offline.Kr3eM wrote: does it exist as an .exe for standalone/windows ? (asking because I don't have internet access in my studio)
A life without a Modular is possible but pointless.

You'll still need the internet, since the generated html page only features the input boxes, then posts the result to the original PHP script on the server which responds with the tuning file:nativeVS wrote:Just save the page locally as a html file and you can open it offline.Kr3eM wrote: does it exist as an .exe for standalone/windows ?
