My first(!) impressions:

- sound quality +++++++
- improvisation without having to read the manual: +++++
- manual itself: a bit of a chaos. think student's notes when a teacher talks above his head. The writer knows what he talks about but does not have an overview. As a punishment he should be forced to copy the Linplug Spectral manual by hand to learn how a top manual is structured.
- obtaining voice-like sounds is not very difficult, but an understandable text will be a question of lots of experience, even more so when you try your own language. Getting as close as 80% is feasable, but the last climb demands time and dedication. an M is very difficult to obtain.
It will take a while before I can have it pronounce a 17thC Italian text...

Overall: hyper addictive and an antidote against sleep. Wow. And I only scratched the surface.

Haha, that's a pretty good summary. I don't think the manual is that bad, it's difficult mostly because it's a manual for a very "mad scientist" plugin, but then again I enjoyed reading Arnold Schoenberg's theory textbook.

Phonem meets Melda's MMorph:

One more Phonem quintet in Final Quintet, some of these patches use re-synthesized/wavetabled prepared-piano string sounds:

Wel, I must admit that Phonem is the most mind-bogging thing I ever met.

'To start from scratch, choose Init new." Sorry, the bank is full. create a new one.
The final result is not blank but 'Hello world'. I am not interested in Hello world and hate to have to right-click to delete phoneme after phoneme. I want an Init New, meaning: nothing. Starting from scratch.

Go Phon? Please select User Base. If that has to be selected anyway, why not simply open it for god's sake?
Same for Transf. and Newtxt.

etc.
I hate to say this but I can find my way in Zebra, Falcon, Spectral, Harmor, Absynth etc without problems, but Phonem is beyond belief, and the manual just does not clarify anything as it's like a first grade student taking notes whilst Roger Penrose explains quantum entanglement.
I like it, but I guess I'll have to wait untill Lynda, Groove3 or whomever comes with a basic course on how to use it. At this moment it is one big chaos.

When I'm back from a short business trip I shall make a basic tutorial to get you started, early next week or so.

In Phonem 1.0.1 you don't have to care about saving anymore.
The presets and the resources are stored completely by the DAW.
You still can organize your favourite resources in your user folders, but don't have to.
See the video:

Can this same thing happen for Wavegenerator and Wavemapper too? :)

this was asked some weeks ago already.
if it could be done in a few hours, i had done it already.
but it is not like that.

things are different in Wavemapper 2 and in Wavegenerator.
and besides the software changes it would need updates in the help texts and in the manual.
and it would need some beta-testing as well.

but i see what i can do.

Seems i have overseen this synth yet! Looks very interesting. I hope there will be an iOS version too like with wavemapper and wavegenerator since multi-touch would fit here well and it's more fun to use them on a multi-touch device.
Is this a multi-channel synth. So could it be mapped to a seaboard without having to use 10 instances?

Please do! There are issues people are facing in Reaper, for example - then they blame Reaper for it, when it's not really Reaper's fault, as it turns out.

As promised, here comes a first basic video tutorial which covers all sorts of things from setting up Phonem to make your own patches to basic editing of utterances to modulation matrix-stuff. What I forgot to mention is, that is is useful to make an Init-template-patch yourself, if you want to avoid the notorious "Hello World"-patch which gets created on initializing Phonem. Then you can store your own Init patch in one of your Banks and recall it whenever you need a fresh Phonem.

and a small Sunday morning wash with 2 Phonems:

I cannot thank you enough for this, Simon. The first five or so minutes drove away as good as all the clouds.
Congrats for having found this out and thanks for sharing it.
Phonem is extremely powerful, I never doubted that, and now I have a better foundation to start from.
Looking forward to the next part, and also to your PhonemKlature which will be a joy to dissect and play with.
