Firstly a confession - I'm a bit of a lazy composer: I fall into the habit of picking scales I know well, effects I know well, and general techniques I know well. Another lazy habit I have is with using presets, either with the default factory sets or downloading & purchasing 3rd party preset packs, I always tweak them a little bit to make my own thing but rarely build sounds from the ground up. As I say - I'm lazy !
With all the MeldaProductions and Glitchmachines plugins they aid me with my laziness but suppress some of the guilt of using presets, by adding randomisation features to all their parameters. If you've ever tried the free Oatmeal plugin ( http://www.kvraudio.com/product/oatmeal_by_fuzzpilz ) you may have spend ages, like me, hitting the random button again and again and just seeing what wild noises come out and usually they can be pretty darn inspiring. Plus you have the added satisfaction of the sound being unique and not based on any existing preset.
(TLDR) Anyway, all this brings me to a feature request I'd love to see in u-he plugins - A random button (or buttons, giving the user the option to randomise the value of just one specific module or the entire setup) that can chose any combination of oscillator types, filtering, settings etc. etc. to make a unique preset.... A big lazy random button for big lazy people (like me!)
Randomise me !

I love the way Rob Papen's Predator lets you randomize specific parts and morph between presets.

+1 on the morphing. I don't like randomize buttons though...core wrote:+1

The u-he plugins have a scripting interface in the .h2p file format. It's not terribly welly documented but there are some examples of full or partial randomization. You can download them here:

Woah I had no idea, thanks bmrzycki ! Just looked at the structure of a 3rd party theme and is has a Script folder, would that mean that a skin author could technically add a randomise button using that script ?
EDIT: Wow, just tried the preset/script in Diva and it works an absolute treat. Loading the preset every time randomises pretty much everything !
Here's the original and altered 'extreme' version which randomises more features for those who shy away from code tweaking. Not sure which plugins it'll work in (so far I've tried Ace, Diva & Hive and all seems fine) but give it a go, ! Just unzip and drop the two files in the preset folder of any of the u-he machines - http://www.ilovecubus.co.uk/pete/RandomPresets.zip
EDIT2: The 'extreme' one can potentially make Zebra & Zebra HZ stop outputting sound so be careful, just reloading the VSTi will sort it again though. Using it in Bazille can create some rather intense noises so make sure you've a limiter on the end and you're not listening loud on headphones !
