A Zebra Osc can have a wavetable (blend or morph with modulatable resolution), and then there are the two OscFX... so Zebra has had a kind of 3D synthesis for a long time. No sample import though so your grand is safeCinebient wrote:All a synth have to do would be to interpolate not only between the different waveform cycles, it should also be able to change the single waveform cycles on the fly or could also interpolate between the whole wavetables..... Not sure if any synth can do it and/or current cpu's are could hande it.
Well, if not someone could do.
Add that with sample import and i pay a grand

I think Rayblaster is a fine creative tool. I only gave Nemesis a cursory glance cause I have so much synthesis capability these days a new synth has to have something unique I don't already have. But you make me want to give it another try!Mac of BIOnighT wrote: Seriously, I remember when Nemesis came out and how lots of people only focused on its FM capabilities, and obviously lots of them criticized the technicalities behind it. True enough, the marketing part focused on that, too.
The truth is, Nemesis is - so far - the most inspiring instrument I've ever had, I made three albums using that instrument only and a whole soundset for it. After all this time, I still use it a lot and it still gives me inspiration.

Give it a good spin, it might take a little while to see what it can do for you, but it's worth a trypdxindy wrote: I only gave Nemesis a cursory glance cause I have so much synthesis capability these days a new synth has to have something unique I don't already have. Yes. Don't ever install it dude, you will really regret it. Oh wait, i'm under NDA, and not really supposed to tell you. Damn.TheKid wrote:Does the installer for Icarus also read all the hard disk content to delete files that Tone2 considers illegal?

Musical instruments should be exactly that, they are tools for a musician to express himself, not toys for technicians and people who commit specs to memory.
I see the same thing here regarding Icarus and its 3d wavetable thing. Quite honestly and frankly, who cares what it is, how it works, whether its real or not, to me the point is that it is a beautiful instrument, I've already recorded enough material for a double album even if it was still being taken out of beta and missing some functions up to a few versions ago. I don't know anything of what happens inside of it, I barely understand most of what it does, and I don't care. I'm a musician, and this is a beautiful tool that allows me to create music as it is in my head and soul, and makes even more music form inside of me with its sounds and workflow. And I know it will take Nemesis' place as my favorite when it's finished, and that's saying a lot.
To me this is all that counts.
And did I mention the size of my pen15? ;-P
I whole heartedly agree with all you said, but it's something that Tone2 really brings on itself with its marketing style. I remember how they used to be all about HCM or what ever they called it. What was it? Don't care. Marketing B.S. That's always been my criticism of Tone2. They really have great synths but they lean on that hard sell and marketing B.S. that sometimes I think they drown out the quality of their offerings. I'm curious about this one too, but not too optimistic. I remember how exciting Rayblaster sounded when described and I personally found it to be their worst synth. There's a synth called Enzyme that sounds super interesting except when you actually play it.
I'm a big fan of wavetable synths. I have a ton of them. Right now I've got John Bowen's ProWave on deck for purchase. It's simple and has no interesting wavetable implementation but it sounds glorious. Makes Arturia's ProphetV sound like mush in comparison and it integrates with the Scope modular system so it can become the heart of a virtual modular system. Will Icarus push my plans to purchase ProWave back? Time will tell. One thing I will tell you is I will actually listen to the sounds I can make with it and ignore all of Tone2's used car salesman tactics. I swear if they could put one of those giant balloon people wavy things in my house when I was using their demos, they would.

Which of your albums are Nemesis-only?
I does seem that flexible - been playing with the demo. Waiting 'till Icarus though; one of them will probably be my first Tone2 purchase

Inherent to the copy protection is a root folder scan for blacklisted key files. This isn't a big deal, doesn't affect legitimate users and frankly deserves more understanding than a poor mask of "content Tone2, considers illegal". They have a fair, firm copy protection.TheKid wrote:Does the installer for Icarus also read all the hard disk content to delete files that Tone2 considers illegal?

But surely this kind of intrusion is just as bad as warez and therefore morally wrong, besides being a very dodgy policy.KingTuck wrote:Inherent to the copy protection is a root folder scan for blacklisted key files. I'll boycott Tone2 based on these comments even though I have no warez
