If this were true, I wonder why licenses of S1 V3 are continuously being sold via the Market Place lately? There's a new license up for sale every other day...
maybe because it's full of bug under OSX , it seems stable under WIN , but it is a nightmare with osx : crash , freeze , some vst are not compatible....

Cubase is REALLY more stable on OSX.

sure features wise and on windows overall, but they deserve a big fat razzy award for the disaster of the mac version and also an extra special award (imho), a unique category, for making an already average but functional gui the worst in the business :tu:
Hate to disappoint - But I'm on a mac and it's fine for me anyway (2.5 was the nightmare). Worst GUI for me was Logic 9 it had so many bugs and crashed a lot too. Can't speak for 10 tho'.

Ableton 9.5 is pretty solid for me (unlike v8).

S1 licence are continuously being sold, as are Bigwig, Cubase, Reason etc etc. UHE's stuff is also a commonly traded stock, doesn't mean they are no good, it just means people know if they need the cash they will sell!!

Licences for sale on KVR It doesn't mean anything, people, sell DAWS for all sorts of reason (other than the 'grass is always greener' reason) and you have to assume most DAWS are selling 10's of thousands of licences....

FYI- I own Cubase 8, Live 9.5 suite, BWS, Reaper S1 3 and my current preference for working with live instruments and in live situations is S1, with Melodyne 4 studio I find it far easier to set up, use and edit audio with. If I was putting together something like EDM/Loop based (all in the box) I like Bitwig...but who knows, Live X and Cubase 9 could change all of that....I don't care, I will use whatever works best at the time for the project or whatever gets the juices flowing....look at DAWs like instruments (they are now production tools however you look at in) - you can have more than one....

One last point- all the DAWS I referenced are super stable on Windows 10 without any tweaking for audio...I think some of the MAC OS updates have caused issues with most of the major DAW platforms.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I have a feeling that developers are getting tired of trying to keep up with this crap. It's almost as if Apple does this knowingly. Who knows.

Congrats Presonus, well deserved! Not sure why it takes me a minute to boot latest update though. Used to be alot more snappy ;)

It's most likely an OSX compatibility problem like the many other issues from a long list of other software.

You have to remember, Mac, OSX and iOS are afterthoughts. The real software market has always been with the PC and Windows.

Feel lucky they even develop for the Mac. It's taken Image-Line almost 20 years and they're still working on it.

Your issue isn't Studio One 3, it's Mac and OSX compatibility and debugging.
award for most ignorant person on the entire forum! By a landslide. Mac osx is incredibly stable.. i have never seen someone pull such BS out of thin air like that before.. this is quite comical.

S1 was dual platform feature parity from day 1.. logic at V2 was likewise mac/pc over 15 years

Image line don't code their daw in C .. nothing more nothing kess.. they use delphi and delphi was not on mac until recently.. if delphi was on mac 20 years ago then IL would have done it then. Same with plugins.. 99% of the plugins NOT on mac are in the "save as" environments the devs of THOSE haven't ported to mac. people who program their own stuff in the most common languages have both mac and win versions.

Feel lucky? They should feel so lucky for the privilege to be graced with such a wonderful OS as OSX to work with :tu:
The real software market has been aimed at Windows and PCs? Surely you can't be talking about music software here? In the 3d Graphics industry you'd have a point.

Anyway... I had Ableton 8 on a PC - And it was shocking. Running nice on my mac with 9.5 :tu:

Not that it really matters but I would say the music software market is split evenly between Mac/PC, I have never seen a PC Pro Tools rig in a pro studio, they do exist obviously but in a minority of users. FL studio is the only major player I can think of that isn't cross platform. I think it's generally accepted by even the most ardent S1 stalwarts that S1 runs a lot better on PC.
Mac Studio M4
15.7.3
Cubase 15, Ableton Live 12

These threads can get really rabid, the opinions. :hihi: Case in point...
I don't see how it could possibly win best daw
You yourself in this thread said this below, and I fully agree with your comment there actually...
...on every one of these sites and polls it's always a different daw that wins.. none of them are the "best"..
The polls and awards mean nothing, literally, to an intelligent shopper doing their own homework. They, industry awards, are for the creators, as every industry gives out awards for whatever they do. At best, it might cause a person to demo something they've never actually heard of or tried before. At worst, some kid who doesn't know any better yet will run out and buy something just because it won an award. :)

No idea why they cause so much drama. :hihi: Especially when PT wins one, people go batshit.

I like using it, but couldn't care less about an award from some people I've never even met. :)

Otoh, people who create things display their awards with pride, as they should, like your kid's softball trophy for "best player" sitting on your fireplace. :hihi: You do actually know, I hope, that little Johnny is not the best player in the world... right? But you still take pride in the trophy... right?

tbh I haven't had a single crash since I turned off VST support and now use just VST3 and AU. I was getting crashes even just dragging VSTs onto tracks before.

My apologies Theo, not my intent.

Anyway, we humans give out trophies and plauqes for everything really so it continues to amuse me (not with you) why it causes so much relative drama with daws.

Some random auto magazine of 10 names a car "Car of The Year" or something and it seems that people actually don't spend an unusual amount of time thinking about it.

Post

Actually, theres just as much conversation (or drama if you prefer) about 'car of the year' awards.

Maybe you just arent into cars, or sites and forums concerning them, to notice though.
