The mackies are priced EACH are they not... unless there's a sale Im not aware of.....
So you're looking to about 1400bp for the whole set?
If so, you can certainly afford adam... and that's what Id suggest (if it is indeed your price range, Ill speak my mind on models)
Best monitors in the same price bracket as HR824s?

A while ago I did fairly extensive tests for a new set of monitors at very much the same price point. I also preferred the BM6As to the Mackies (or the similarly priced genelecs). I agree with the point about them about being hi-fi speaker-ish: I found them too woofy and a little too harsh at the top end.
In the end, though, I got a pair of BM15As because they had a demo pair that they let me have at only slightly more than the BM6As and I had to take them
