Yes, I recall you had said that there will not be an Iris 3.
I hope that you are wrong. Perhaps an alternative program
will continue where Iris left off.

No bug fixes (some critical) in over a year... no feature updates... the fire-sale prices... I'd say the likelihood of an Iris 3 is not looking good.
My main tools: Kontakt, Omnisphere, Samplemodeling + Audio Modeling. Unify = godsend. Tari's libraries also rock.

I did not win the $800 million "Mega Millions" and now you tell me this?
2016 in starting off badly! :(

I reinstalled Iris (1) .
And I have all the libraries from Simon's subscription once again at my disposal.

All 2 adds I can also do elsewhere and, my idea, better.
Windows 7, Cubase 9.5 and some extra plug-ins | Takamine EN-10C and PRS Mira

It's worrying because if they do drop it they will probably blame it on not having enough interest from users, when they alienated Iris 1 users from the start and tried to market it based on its weaknesses not its strengths in an attempt to broaden their market.

I hope that I'm wrong, yet I've had my doses of wishful thinking, so I prefer a little realism in this case.

Well, you had those sounds at your disposal before reinstalling, just a little crippled they were, but the core of an Iris sound, the spectral selection within a sample, translates perfectly fine to Iris 2. Sorry for the euphemism :tu:

This - the overall situation for Iris users is quite absurd, the impact of this absurdity for Iris 1 users is even bigger. Although iZotope have regained a big share of their good reputation lately, due to a new pricing policy and some great updates (e.g. -> Ozone 7), they have totally ruined this one.

Just a guess, but as an Iris 1 owner I never upgraded, because it was quite possibly the most disappointing v2 I've seen. the fact that filters could not be applied to separate samples in a patch, huge huge flaw. That was an obvious need, that all three samples had the same routing...

I don't think I'm alone in not buying v2, and iZotope probably think people weren't that impressed with the concept, which simply isn't true, we just weren't impressed with the lack of significant new features in Iris 2. Sound libraries are cool, but a good portion of people buying a synth like Iris are looking at making their own sounds. Basically they think it's a dead product because people aren't interested, when in reality it's because they tacked on some libraries and a new GUI and called it an upgrade.

Not to beat a possibly dead horse, but imagine if they actually did what they should of with Iris, and allowed all three samples to have their own audio outs, their own FX etc. Allowed the end user to copy paste 'slicing' between samples, so you could for instance load the same sample into all three bays, with various areas separated then run those through FX etc. For some reason this obvious thing to do with v2 of Iris didn't happen....

Somewhat unrelated but I bought Iris 1 the other day and man I am hooked... So much fun layering my own samples in unique ways. It is absolutely the business for complex and evolving pads and atmospheric sounds. The sub layer is such a great idea.

i will vote for any presidential candidate of any country if they promise
to pass a law that obligates Izotope to include the above features and
more in an Iris 3  release. :D

Really, Izotope must know they have a great plugin so contrary to
the prevailing belief that there will be no Iris 3 I say they will be
an Iris 3! 8) :?: :hihi: :o :clown: :hyper: :D

I have both v.1, and v.2... I hope he's right 8)

I disagree that fire-sale prices indicates discontinuation of a product. Infact in my view it means that another iteration is more likely. Companies generally have a 'clearance' or last hurrah for existing proucts before bringing out new products. Iris is kind of their flagship "synth" isn't it? Unless iZotope are in serious financial, managerial or staff-retainment strife.. I'd guess that they are working on their next range.

Besides, I am logged into my iZotope account right now and it says that that Iris 2, Breaktweaker, Nectar 2, Insight, Ozone 7, RX 5 and even the ancient Trash 2 were all last updated in November last year. So they are working on updates... probably just more on bug fixes and OS compatibility than feature additions.

Iris 2.01 - a hotfix for major bugs and compatibility issues with Iris 1 patches - was released in December 2014, no updates have been released since then and we're still all working with a buggy piece of software in January 2016.
