Yes - I think 4 is plenty, and 6 would just be a waste of space and invite sloppy programming (BTW I rarely need more than 2).mrj1nx wrote:Im envisioning an even bigger patch grid in the middle with maybe 6 columns.. Too much?

But it would be nice to be able to have more modules in a pane, so that Diva filters in ZHZ can have individual panes, like VCF and XMF do?
In fact, this would be a great Z2 update IMHO. Especially if ZHZ won't happen for Z3...

Yeah I guess it could just be bloat. It depends on what other options there are for layering sounds. I mean in this day and age when more and more daw's have capabilities for layering and complex patches, it's starting to blur a bit what the actual plugin should do vs what it should rely on the daw to do. Still, to be able to really save a patch I guess the plugin needs to be as much of a swiss army knife as possible, as in, having all the fx, all filter types, layering etc... I guess thats where these new hybrid things like Rob Papen Prisma and that kiloHertz Multipass effect unit come in. In some ways one could argue that those two would be unessecary, but just to be able to easily save settings I guess they are needed.Howard wrote:Yes - I think 4 is plenty, and 6 would just be a waste of space and invite sloppy programming (BTW I rarely need more than 2).mrj1nx wrote:Im envisioning an even bigger patch grid in the middle with maybe 6 columns.. Exactly. This works really well, and you can also control parameters via XY that you cannot configure in Live or MIDI map in Zebra. Now you can control these via a controller like Push. Though I do save each rack with each macro knob uniquely labeled in Live so I know what I'm tweaking from Push.zethus909 wrote:I do like the way you set up the performance knobs though thats genius. Because this way you can assign all the xy to the macro knobs in ableton...and then every different patch you make in zebra you have different performance functions for each xy knob...so you change patches in zebra, but the control is always the same in ableton...and you just have to choose how you want to patch up the performance knobs in zebra...zethus909 wrote:Howard wrote:Ah... I thought you meant MIDI-learn within Zebra
This is another reason why I would love to have Zebra's XY setup with Bazille, for example. And whether it is loaded in Live or not, it is still very useful.

Yep, I guess the 32 limit is outdated.EvilDragon wrote:But it would be nice to be able to have more modules in a pane, so that Diva filters in ZHZ can have individual panes, like VCF and XMF do?

Is it a lot of work to up that limit?

The limit that one pane with modules (left and right side of Zebra) can contain only up to 32 modules. Which is why in Zebra HZ, Diva filters were merged into one module, which is inconsistent with how VCF and XMF modules are (you have individual modules for VCF/XMF 1-4, whereas for Diva filters you have LPF 1-4 and HPF 1-4 in two modules (as opposed to
IIRC).

Ahh... thanks for the info... never knew about that. I doubt I have ever come close to hitting that limit.EvilDragon wrote:The limit that one pane with modules (left and right side of Zebra) can contain only up to 32 modules. i think it's not any time soon..
he talks about timeline of it somewhere in this thread.. maybe read back a couple pages.. it's far enough away that, for me, it doesn't make sense to think about it... so i forgot the details.
still so much to do in zebra 2 anyways.

Earlier Urs stated he hopes that Z3 will come out this year, but not a promise.

Another thing that you cant do but it would be nice, is in zebrify......right now you cant map any of the envelope follower knobs into ableton....yes you can do the midi learn...but be good to be able to map directly to Push.....the normal way...
i mean the knobs like pitch detector, transient, sense etc.....be able to map those to XY knobs

The first post about zebra3 is four years old. I don't think we can get it this year. Unfortunately uhe have another baby in the pipeline, I mean RePro-1. I'm bored about another vintage-emulation.
