The subject line pretty much covers it - MFM2 doesn't show up in the VST plugin menu for Live 64bit.
Installed the latest version of both MFM2.2.2.1 and Live 9.6 but no entry in VST menu.

Is this a bug? cheers :)

Are you running Ableton as admin - for some reason some VSTs don't appear unless you are

Post

Thanks mcbpete - I should have mentioned OSX 10.11.3 - I log in as an admin, so I suppose it's running under an admin account

Post

Ah apologies - The admin workaround was for Windows, not sure if the issue/fix still applies for Macs ...

That's weird, I demoed it a month or so ago, and it showed up just fine (same DAW, OS etc).
On the off change that you missed this: U-He makes its own folder inside the VST folder, so in Live you'll find it under a U-He subgroup under VST as well.
Have you checked if the vst is actually present on your HD?

A useful tip (although I'm not sure if it's helpful in this case): in rare cases the rescan (in preferences) doesn't scan newly added plugins. If you hold alt while clicking on rescan, it will do a forced scan (I think it empties its cache). Sometimes it helps.

Post

Thanks BDeep - re-scan hasn't changed the plugin menu in Live to reveal MFM2, and I can definitely see it in the folder - yeah, I've got a folder for U-he plugins..

Post

Dumb question ... it's definitely the 64Bit version of the plugin you have for MFM2 in that folder ? Live 64Bit won't show any 32Bit plugins unless you use a wrapper.

Post

Thanks Mike - yup - deffo 64bit.

I downloaded the most recent version from u-he.com - it's one .vst file which I assume is 32+64 bit compatible, like the other u-he plugins in my folder.

Post

OK - sorry - worth a try - I've definitely made that mistake a few times myself ! :D

I'm on Windows so they're separate dll files (I've no Mac experience as you can tell!)

Rescan with pressed (held down) Alt key.

Here Live 9.6 and latest MFM2 are working fine.

No probs Mike :)

to be honest, I always assumed I was one of the few holding on to 32bit, but I've been forced to 64bit recently and this isn't the first issue I've had with it. So perhaps I'm not as stuck in the past as I thought I was. Whether that's a good thing or not..?

Having said that, BDeep's (edit- and AutoBot) extended suggestion to do a forced scan _has_ now fixed it!
So thanks BDeep and AutoBot :)

Back to the noises.
