Even if hosts stop running 32bit plugins there is always JBridge.
It is buggy. I've had problems loading my projects, and disabling the vanguard solved all of them...

All of those got an Arpegiator/sequencer that could alos act as a Gated Arp if that is what you need.

If you are interested in wavetable synths you could also wait for teh upcoming Tone2 Icarus synth.
Two of the 60+ filter modes in Icarus will be based on and/or inspired by a 303 fiter.
I know that, I emailed the Tone2 team to see if they could save the synth (due to their owning part of the code) but legally they can't.
I'm gonna try their synths.

Sylenth is good, and I've always used it, but you're kinda limited when it comes to making acids. You can just do the classics with it: distorted acid, 303, Ellis acids, but it's hard to get something really different.
Perhaps define what you mean then? Acids are generally thought of as the 303/Tyas sounds.
Do you mean Adam Ellis?
Yes I meant Adam Ellis. Here's what I mean by acid for instance: http://we.tl/hrYOO2RtYM I've been trying to recreate all my presets in other synths, and I've never managed to recreate this one.
This hosting site aksed me to click 5 times before doing nothing.

Any insight on Adam Ellis sound? I've been looking for a way to recreate his basslines but found nothing.

Just buy his soundbanks, they're definitely worth it!

I did the soundbanks with him that he uses in a lot of his tracks. With Sylenth.

Sylenth is pretty much all he uses most of the time.

That particular preset is heavily autopanned, which he also uses a lot. He also uses a lot of bus processing.

That's what I said earlier. I use other synths like sylenth for Adam Ellis acids, but when it comes to oldschool psytrance I haven't found anything as good as the vanguard.

I tried recreating my presets, and I got quite close, but it never sounded as good.
I know Adam uses autopan a lot, I do it too. In vanguard it is a little different: half the notes are panned to the left, the others to the right. I can do without it, what I really miss are some of the filters and sound waves.

To be honest I haven't used Vanguard for about 5-6 years so I've forgotten what it sounds like. I do recall it being very digital and aliasing a lot, so perhaps that's the bit you're missing? I don't think the 'bad' sound that digital introduces is always a bad thing.

Maybe give ANA a go. It aliases pretty badly at times, but somehow manages to sound good in the process!

Another to try would be Predator

It's not only about preset, but also the pattern. It's so fast I have no idea what is going there.

Vanguard is very digital and aliases a lot, overall poor sound quality. Serum is also digital (both are wavetables), but does not alias and is smooth as... very smooth. Actualy the clarity of Serum puts off many people.

He's done a few tutorials on youtube about the basslines he uses.

Wow judging from the sound demos on their websites, these correspond exactly to what I'm looking for! Thanks a lot!

That's a great thing with Vanguard. A simple pattern can lead to a great sound easily. http://www.cjoint.com/doc/16_02/FBruWS7 ... .48.19.png

I think DJ Warmonger is right in that the fidelity of more recent plugins takes away from the crunchy crapness of the older ones. Not always, but sometimes.

Another oldskool one that might be worth a look at is Image Line Poizone.

I do miss this "crapness" in new plugins. I each of the pairs of Massive/Serum, Z3ta/Dune2, Sylenth/Hive I prefer the sound of the first one - that "crapness", if treated right, turns into awesomeness.
You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Surprised nobody mentioned KarmaFX modular yet?

Where did you hear this from? reFX themselves?
I'm not too surprised to be honest - but a bit sad. I liked Vanguard.

It sounds as though we're entering into the era of vintage VSTi's now.

Vanguard and Albino3 are the first ones to be coveted.
