Orignator Posters can lock topics.

Any problems with the site? How can we improve KVR?

Hmm,
An interesting approach here:

The OP posts a valid comment, gets a few responses, issues insults, then locks the thread.

And that before Meldaproduction has had a chance to respond. :(

That's why i posted here some time ago that it is a very bad idea to give posters the ability to lock topics... should be strictly a mod capability. Otherwise i can post a topic, insult god and the world, act as the moral instance, and close the topic after my glorious final word. Which, obviously, sucks.

Agreed. Plus sometimes topics get closed while there's still a discussion going on.

There must be a reason behind this, I remember that it wasn't always possible to lock topics? I forgot what it was.

I can't really think of any tbh. No user should have mod capabilities, or should be supposed to act as a mod, when things go bad. The only place i could imagine it makes sense is the market place forum, but even then, you could just close a topic which doesn't suit you, if there's replies you're not liking. Please, mods, reconsider this. Closing topics shouldn't be in user hands.

The old software couldn't support it IIRC.

It's a two-edged sword. It saves threads that have run their course or are redundant from getting necroed later for no good reason. OTOH, it can be used abusively. However, it's a fairly clear indication that you can't have an honest debate with that person, ever, and it's not worth trying.

In this case, I think Vojtech could post a response as it's in the Melda subforum and so has mod powers there.

I like the idea of being able to lock my own thread. Thing is. None of my threads have been hoohaw threads. :hihi:

That's right. Mods and admins can post in locked threads. A company forum mod can post in locked threads that are in his or her company forum. I think a company forum mod can unlock and lock within that company's forum.

Can we revisit this?

It's getting really annoying when a user throws a tantrum and locks a thread while there's a discussion going on.

I'm all for it. I mean to remove the lock-abilities of normal users.
