Question to Pro. sound designers about free patch libraries

When it comes to free libraries, do you feel that it's unfair trading ?
(I'm skipping out of this question single presets or very specific patches or even small libs with less than 20 presets or so).

The reason I'm asking is because the few presets packs I delivered so far were way too amateurish to raise any serious question.

But since I keep working on sound design with synths on a rather steady rate, I'm unavoidably becoming more self-demanding, cooking more complex patches, with more modulation options; tones and timbres are more diverse and so on.

But yet, I still manage to do this on my free time, even with a young child at home and a work (I'm a short sleeper :drunk: ) and do not intend to supplement my income with it.

Still, I do not like the idea of market wrecking for it's a plague in my business (which is video) and so many others.
And even if Uhe Synth are a niche market (except Diva and maybe Zebra), I thought the question deserved to be asked.

Because if so, maybe I should ask for a small fee when I release my next pack :?:

Keep them coming if that's what you like.
I feel sound design is a very personal thing and a good designer has a certain signature to his/her work. So your presets do not devalue others'.
Competition only kicks in when money is involved.
But I can understand some people not willing to pay when great free patches are available.
Don't think about it too much and just enjoy making/sharing sounds.
You could always place a donation button on the download page or simply set a price for your pack.

No problem. And for the record, I don't consider myself a "pro" sound designer as it's not my day job.
However, knowing people are willing to pay for my work is a great proof of recognition.
