Hi,

since a few days I am proud owner of MPowersynth and (apart from starting problems cause really EVRYTHING seems to be different from most other synths I know and finding out the most simple things like how to just "save" a preset could become a challenge for a newbie) now came to one of the points which interested me most when buying MPowersynth: the morphfunction between different ?????? here the problem begins....

I could not find any sufficient information about how this ABCD-Morphing really works in user guide or any videos so far. So would be great if anyone has any additional information about this special feature.

What I realized so far that it did NOT seem to morph between whole presets (like I imagined) but only between ?????? It seem to ignore Effectssection, modulation section and ????.

And I did not really understand what how the morphing in this ABCD-field really works.

Any help for a newbie would be really appreciated, apart from that I am really overwhelmed from the great sounds, power, presets and evrything from this gigantic "universum of synth" :D . Overall the random buttons evrywhere AND the presets nearly in evry section are really amazing.

Yeah it's a morphing not by some audio engine but it morphs presets on parameter level. So, if FX setup is different in two presets, it can't work because it does not add or remove modules or connections. To be able to morph completely, you would have to put the sum of effects in both presets and set the ones not used to dry/wet 0%. When two presets have the same modules in use, morphing should work. About modulation you may be right, I think that can't be morphed.

The ABCD morph will interpolate between values.
So for example if A had a reverb with 0% dry/wet and B had a reverb with 100% dry/wet. If you morph halfway between A and B the reverb value would be on 50%. This will sound very smooth.
However some parameters can not be interpolated, like octave for example. It can only be say +1 +2. Or for example if A has a random mod enabled but B has an envelope mod enabled. It is impossible to smoothly interpolate between these two states. So when morphing from A to B it will suddenly jump.
It depends how you wish to use the ABCD morphing. If you wish to smoothly morph between states then you need to think about which parameters can be interpolated. This will rarely work when using presets as there is almost always some parameter that won't interpolate. It is best to make your own patches with this in mind.
However the ABCD morph can be used to find a sweet spot. It won't smoothly morph, but that doesn't matter as once you have found the balance that sounds good, you can just leave it there. From that point on you could then set up some of your own morphing using the multiparameters.

Any more questions, feel free to ask. We are a helpful bunch on this forum.

Hi Zentralmassivesound and jmg8,

thank you very much for your answers :) !

At least I know that I was not that wrong with what it does and what not. Think I have to play around a little bit more to find out more about frontiers for this. Point with own patches of course is right but I am afraid I am far from this, would be happy if I understand enough to morph the presets in the direction I would like for the moment. Maybe I could start with some more simple ones, look for the parameteres and then see what happens.

If someone stumbles over tutorial/video in this direction (morph feature) would still be very appreciated.
