Step Clip channels - can they be routed to different audio outputs?

I'm using the Step Clip feature as a drum pattern programmer, and at the moment I'm simply dropping samples I've made into the T6 Sampler plug-in. I can't see a way to route different samples to different audio outputs that way; I guess Sampler is too basic.

Is there a way to route different channels of a Step Clip to different audio outputs? I'd like to be able to use single Step Clips because that retains the sense of the drum pattern method of working, and whole patterns can just be copied & pasted etc. The nearest thing I can find is Bill Edstrom's video on routing channels to different virtual instruments, but still those all output on the same stereo pair. Annoyingly, he doesn't cover this in his book either.

Can this be done?

(I should add I'm using a 16-channel hardware mixer and like to use external hardware effects, hence the desire to split different sounds onto different audio paths for separate processing, but retaining their pattern-locked structure)

Have you looked into the Sampler Rack? That should do what you want.

EDIT: Nope, completely stumped. Can't find the wrapper in T6. Have no idea what's going on. I can set up the sampler plugins fine, but routing the outputs is utterly bewildering. The only thing I can figure out is routing the whole lot to the main stereo pair. Which is not what I need.

Racks can be a bit overwhelming in the beginning. Please read the topic in Bill's book.
Did you find the Sampler Rack? It is under 'Plugin Racks' -'New from preset' when you drag the plugin dragger onto a track.
As you can see every sampler is routed to a compressor that is assigned an output (L and R).
Now drag as many instances of the rack to separate tracks and assign the 'Left (and Right) output comes from' in the properties panel when the instance is selected. If you have mono samples you obviously don't need all the stereo routing.
Then select the appropriate output per track.
