The first electronica album is very good, I hope the second one is good too.

What I mean is that decades ago his sound was kind of unique, he had a signature sound and music (not that I liked it much, but still). That is no longer the case in my view, his modern music might as well be made by someone else...

Ahh I agree 101% with you. It's terribly generic, the first album E1 might be one of the worst things I've ever heard actually.

Btw I've noticed the same with everyone, old and new artists, a general decline across everyone, in all fields.

Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

I've noticed this too. It's odd.

Is Vangelis still making music?

He's not as active these days. However, the best place for news is likely to be http://www.elsew.com.

Either humanity in general has changed (for better or worse) at some fundamental level and we require something very different to fulfill us, or music in general has become terribly unoriginal in every way in this day and age. As if the the music itself that we are currently making is not speaking to us about the things that really matter, individually, socially and worldwide. The music being made, commercially and elsewhere, is not truly speaking of the that which is now missing.

And no amount of music making tools are going to fill that void in. It has to be addressed with something else entirely. And when that has finally been addressed, the music we make will itself be very different than the music we have made and it will not be stale as it currently is, but speak to us, as powerfully as it once did.

Does Omnisphere (probably Atmosphere) have Jarre-inspired presets? I tried the search, but didn't find any straight references to him) I know the Bob Moog-library has some, but since likes of Vangelis, Giorgio, Schulze (conitnuum!) and others have so many, I'm thinking there's probably a few Jarre ones there too. I haven't listened to his music very much in general, but I know he has a very soft and calming tones, so this occurred to me.

First listen to his music A LOT in general.

Secondly, no Atmosphere doesn't have much of his older sound in it. But his newer sound, yes, with the occasional ethereal pad, nothing extensive though. Same goes for Omnisphere. Jarre still uses a lot of different synths, you should educate yourself over on Youtube, as things are in plain sight. Years and years of information to absorb. There are forums as well. :)

Is the OP still around? It's about time he/she changes the title to the correct name - It's Jean Michel Jarre. Michelle, for those who don't know, is female.
