There aren't a lot of specs on either this or Orbit but from what I can tell, they appear to be romplers with some sound modulation capabilities and not true synths. But again, with so little info, and no downloadable demo, that's just my best guess. Plus, they appear to be made for Kontakt, not that that's a big deal.
Sounds fine. I'm just not sure how much variety you're going to get out of these unless you can create and use your own sound sources as well.

There are 69 soundsources which you can use in 3 or 4 channels, each of them are long evolving sounds. They can be crossfaded between in vein of Korg Wavestation in three modes (chop, flow, pulse), tempo-synced all the time. You can also completely reduce the depth of this crossfading so that you get a huge, evolving, stacked sound. For each channel you can adjust basic parameters (volume, pan, tune, filter cutoff, resonance, filter type), then process them with some effects. 4 sequencers can be assigned to some global parameters and FX parameters for some pulsing modulation.
It's a simple concept that doesn't try to be the-synth-to-end-them-all, keywords here are simplicity and instant gratification. Perfect for cinematic underscore, but there's quite a few more uses you can get from it.
Technically you COULD use your own samples, but only by replacing factory soundsources (the instrument is not locked for editing, but one needs to be mindful of instrument's structure when doing so).

Eclipse looks to be a darker version of Orbit (pulse/drone type engine thing).
See Daniel James for demo of Orbit v Signal...

When you say "replacing factory sound sources" I'm taking that to mean one or the other. In other words, if you have 69 slots for sound sources, you can take one of the slots and put your own in but then you lose the sound source that was in that slot. in other words, you can't add slots.EvilDragon wrote:There are 69 soundsources which you can use in 3 or 4 channels, each of them are long evolving sounds. Correct?

Correct, the script doesn't take into account any new sounds you map next to factory soundsources, for simplicity reasons.
The instrument is based on Kontakt snapshots, so in case of exchanging snapshots between users, the mapped user samples would have to be the same. There are too many situations where this could end up being more trouble than worth, so we opted for not offering user sample mapping in the script. Example - user 1 has sample X mapped in addition to factory 69 samples, user 2 has sample Y mapped in its stead. The snapshot would sound different between the two users in that case. Worse case - user 1 has samples X, Y, Z mapped in addition to factory samples, but user 2 has only samples A and B mapped. The snapshot user 1 wants to send to user 2 uses sample Z. There would be no sound produced at all by the Eclipse channels that use sample Z on user 2's configuration.

So then essentially producing sound libraries for this synth would be a logistical nightmare.EvilDragon wrote:Correct, the script doesn't take into account any new sounds you map next to factory soundsources, for simplicity reasons.

Not if you keep on using just the factory soundsources. It's a Kontakt library, it's quite rare to have soundbanks made for them anyways.

It is online now:

Once again epic and cinematic.
Hans Zimmer Clone Wars.
Seems to be the best salespitch for Kontaktlibraries these days.
I`d rather see something especially designed for Ambient music from them.

You can use both Orbit and Eclipse for that, too. Check out the Industricity demo - it's not all about pulsing and rhythmic stuff.

Looks interesting but only 5 days for the intro price.
Just after the sale on Gravity, i will sadly have to pass on that.
