MFilter

I think it sounds fantastic but I'm trying to understand why it has such a limited set of filter types available compared to pretty much all your other plugins that have filters (which have dozens of types). I would have thought that a dedicated filter plugin would be the best place for all those filter types to sit - instead I have to go to plugins like MWobbler to get the full range, but its feature set is different and I would love to be able to access all those filter types in MFilter too.

I'm not sure yet how they both compare in terms of features, just bought Wobbler, it has many more filters but some of MFilter's patches are doing things I'm not seeing in MWobbler - but maybe it can do those too? I was just wondering though why the dedicated filter plugin is the one that actually has the least amount of filter types?
And if Wobbler can do everything MFilter can why would anyone buy MFilter anyway? I guess that's a question I have about several Melda products, there does seem to be quite a lot of overlap - why so many that do stereo widening, why 2 rotary plugins, why so many that do similar distortions etc? Seems many of these could be combined in one.

Well, I don't even own MFilter, I only pick those plugs which I think fit my way of working and esthetics best. All I can say is that MWobbler is an extremely deep filter/distortion/spatializer plugin and when used in MXXX (I have the core version) it gets even more versatile. As to why Vojtech is producing so many variations? He is probably inventing new methods over time and rather than updating older plugins and charging people for it, he releases new ones with other/new/expanded features.

Correct, MFilter is more oldschool really, it's basically just MEqualizer with modulators. MWobbler is a dedicated filter. History is haunting us

Isn't it also part of the free bundle? That would be another reason for it not to sport too many features.

The one thing I still use mfilter for is parallel filtering, which the other eqs don't have and wobbler only allows 2 filters. So with mfilter you can set up a bunch of parallel band pass filters for a real killer customisable vowel type filter. I believe the parallel switch is up top.

No it's not, it's actually the same price as Wobbler. That's one reason I asked the question as I wasn't sure if it was worth buying.ZentralmassivSound wrote:Isn't it also part of the free bundle? That would be another reason for it not to sport too many features.
If it really is MEqualiser with modulation then maybe it should be though?

so what about a dedicated upgrade path for mfilter-owners to mwobbler then?MeldaProduction wrote:Correct, MFilter is more oldschool really, it's basically just MEqualizer with modulators. MWobbler is a dedicated filter. History is haunting us.
