Idea: MDrummerSynth ?

Hi there,

Now you can test the MDrummer Large version, which is great, since you can also test the drum designer module, where you can create own drumpads. I did not download the 6 gb sample library, since I am only interested in the synthesized sounds.

Here comes the question: Would it be possible to bring out a seperate version of MDrummer, in which you only have the synth-modules available without the samples?

I am asking, since I feel a bit weird, when buying a ~250 € tool, from which I probably would only use 25 %. I also would not use the drum machine itself. Think of ephonic drumatic - it also has only the synths and no samples and no drum machine module (I like to program the rhythms by hand in the host, hehe).


Idea 2: maybe in MYYY there will be the possibility to have the option to program something like a drumsynth? Having these great drumsynth modules and also the easy way to assign the soundgenerator to a specific note!?

well, it's not really planned to be honest. MDrummer is sort of old and made not in such an easy modular way to make it just "extract" a few features, so that would be a lot of work. But sure, when it comes to MYYY I assume all this could be possible.

I was just about to post a similar question as Mano.

I love 4NN, but it's very awkward to work with within the MDrummer interface. It would be wonderful if it could be let loose, even as a single drum voice, no sequencer. Would happily pay for it (already own everything else..).

But will wait to see what MYYY brings. Still trying to get my head around MXXX!

MPowerSynth is great for creating synth drums. Why are we asking for a basic synth from MDrummer? Can it do something that MPS can't? I must be missing something.
If I could ask for anything from MD it would be the sampler.
I would REALLY love even just a very very basic sampler in MPS and MXXX.

I already tested using MPS for drumsynth sounds. I used MPS inside MPS and limited the kexboard range for the instances: one for the kick, one for the snare and one for the hi hat. Unfortunately it took a lot of CPU for some very simple synthesis already. MDrummer uses way less CPU for different drumsynths, while I was even using twice as many synths inside MDrummer. That's why I would prefer using something like MDrummer for such things - not "wasting" too much CPU, if you use such things in a cinematic situation for example (and there at least I need every single bit of CPU unfortunately ).

MDrummer's synths are designed for drum synthesis, which is quite a different concept. I was actually quite surprised when people started delivering MPS presets for drums . But well, everything has a point. I was thinking several times about making just a drum synth or something, just extract the cool stuff from MDrummer, but always eventually thought like "why...since MDrummer knows it all...".

In my DAW there is a drum rack, where you load your individual samples/synths for each drum, kick, snare, hat etc. its seems a bit much to have 12 instances of MDrummer open. I use the DAW to do my drum sequencing so wouldn't use the rhythm stuff anyway. Maybe just the synth and sampler from MDrummer as a little drum synth, nice and small no included samples but the sampler so we can drop our own samples in. This would be used a lot by myself and if it was available as an FX modue in MPS and MXXX that would be amazing! I can imaging using the sampler for some sampled noise and the drum synth to add some attack to some synth sounds.
Would help me with the sleepless nights waiting for MYYY.
