Midi Modifier Rack Question

Can anyone help,
I'm trying to create a midi modifier rack, I can place on each track, and then be able to change the pitch of the entire edit (excluding drum track) just once, as opposed to what I seem to have to do now, which is to add a modifier plugin to each track, and the change each pitch in turn.
I have made a rack, but in use the pitch changes on each track as I want, but it appears all the audio is routed to all the tracks!
So, if I for example, solo trk1 and then solo trk2 then turn the volume fader down on track 2,
I hear trk two's audio coming through on track one, with its pan position and original volume level, as well as audio from track one.

All I'm after is to be able to put a Midi modifier( or what ever will do the job) rack, on each midi track and then be able to change the pitch of all the track globally.

Hopefully you can make some sense of the above, any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
cheers

I don't know how that would work with racks.

I did just try adding the Pitch Shifter plug-in to multiple tracks to see what happens if I select all instances (either with crtl-select or right-clicking and choosing Select All Other Plugsin of the Same Type) to see if I can adjust one and get them all changed, but it makes T6 and t7 disappear. (Win 10, T6 32 and 64 bit, and T7 trial).

I'd better report it.

Sounds like you might be better off using the Edit Clip feature with your tunable stuff in a separate edit and pasted into the main edit with your percussion added. You ought to be able to then apply a single Pitch Shifter plug-in to your combined instruments in the main edit.

Thanks Jabe, I'll give your suggestion a try, going the rack route would be the easiest option, if it just changed the pitch without sending the audio to all the tracks, any idea why its doing that?

My assumption would be that if there's only a single version of a plug-in in the rack and it's getting multiple inputs, there would be no way to separate the outputs.

I did wonder if, instead, you could sent all your track outputs to one single track, and just put the Pitch Shifter on that one track. I've had a quick attempt and it looks like it would work.

will try suggestions and see which feels nicest to work with.
Cheers much appreciated

This is just how racks work. They are a single rack with tracks being sent and received to/from them. One use of them is precisely to send audio from one track to multiple ones. Check the "Stereo Pass Through" preset for an example, it has a read me in it.

Rather than using a rack, can't you just put a "MIDI Modifier" on each track?

Hi ,yes that's what I've been doing, but it's a bit of a pain to have to individually change the pitch of each track, if I want to try something in a different key.
I did find this http://bedroomproducersblog.com/2011/12 ... st-by-jof/ but unfortunately the link does not seem to work.
"As the blurb says it allows you to place slave instances on squillions of tracks and tranpose all the MIDI on them from one master instance. Tranpose from the GUI, automating the transpose parameter or from a range of notes on a keyboard. Choose the range of notes you want to tranpose in each slave instance (for eg not tranposing key switches/drones etc)"

something like that would be great, or a transpose all midi note in edit to ......... option.
I'm fairly sure something like the transpose all midi notes option was available in Cubasis way back.

I know there are very few Tracktioneers that would be bothered by this, its just something I find a little frustrating.

anyway thanks for reply

I mentioned above that I ought to report this (so I will) - there's an option to select all similar plug-ins (so presumably a single change could apply a key change to several tracks at once), but T6 and T7 disappear whenever I try it.

Thanks, was it just the Pitch Shifter you were seeing this with or other plugins? I've fixed the crash for the Pitch Shifter now.

Yes, it was just the Pitch Shifter. Thank you, much obliged, that's marvellous. This one is not my email PC, otherwise I'd've done it by now.

Re Transposer by jof,

I have managed to download this vst, basically does what I want, put vst on each track, set one to master, the rest to slave,
enter transpose value in master, hit enter on your qwerty keyboard & voila key change :-)

If it's of any use/Interest to anyone else:

think it may only be 32bit

cheers
