I'd say about five articulations would be enough.how many different articulations are you after ?

For some articulations using a velocity crossfade would be OK - but for some it is not. For example if you play a cello sound and want to switch between normal legato playing and pizzicato; then it's better to switch directly between the two articulations to avoid playing the wrong sound.Can't you do that using the multi-sampler, using multiple velocity zones?
Please keap in mind that I'm not the only one looking for the keyswitching feature for older samplers. If the MUX could turn these machines to a modern standard may be you could win some new users.

Ok, i think i understand. But then what's wrong with using a Note Dispatcher in "Key Range" mode? That way you can choose the event output by playing the respective special key. Isn't that the "multiple special keys" you are asking?DIGIFEX wrote:For some articulations using a velocity crossfade would be OK - but for some it is not. I didn't understand the description of "Key Range" mode in the user manual:
"Key Range: The note-ons in the key range from Special Key to Special Key + Num Outs define the output."
What does this mean? There are the same three paramters as for "Keyed" mode as far as I can see (only one special key to define). So how use mutiple special keys here?

Here is a concrete example for the Note Dispatcher "Key Range" mode: If Special Key is C1 and you have 5 outputs then
C1 selects out 1
C#1 selects out 2
D1 selects out 3
D#1 selects out 4
E1 selects out 5
All other notes continue to the selected output.
C1 selects out 1
C#1 selects out 2
D1 selects out 3
D#1 selects out 4
E1 selects out 5
All other notes continue to the selected output.

C1 = out 1
C#1 = out 2
D1 = out 3
D#1 = out 4
E1 = out 5
Aaaahh - now I've got it! Indeed that's exactly what I'm after. But will an active output be muted as soon as another special key is pressed? That would be mandatory if you want to switch between sound patches.

No. Maybe it can be done by doing some modular magic?DIGIFEX wrote:But will an active output be muted as soon as another special key is pressed?

I've added this example to the M7 docs so to make things more clear.mutools wrote:Here is a concrete example for the Note Dispatcher "Key Range" mode: If Special Key is C1 and you have 5 outputs then

It works exactly as desired!!!
Press a special key and only one sound plays. That's how it should be. Groundbraking! You can now turn any VST Sampler without keyswitching to a Sampler that HAS keyswitching.
People all over the world have tried to achieve this over the last years - without success. And now it's possible!
I'll make an easy to use front panel for keyswitching where you simply have to replace your desired instrument articulations into one of (for example) five slots - then you simply have to store the complete patch for later use.
May be I should post this in a new thread here in the instrument/sampler forum at KVR. I'm sure some people will be as delighted as I am.

Yes, good idea.DIGIFEX wrote:May be I should post this in a new thread here in the instrument/sampler forum at KVR. I'm sure some people will be as delighted as I am.

@ Jo: Please note that when I assign for example key C0 as a first switching key in the note dispatcher this will in fact cause the right trigger when pressing C0 on the keyboard (virtual keyboard for example) in Mulab.
But when I press C0 in Presonus Studio One nothing happens. This was the reason why I was having problems to set up "Keyed" mode at first. After everything was working fine in Mulab I tried a little bit and found out that when I put in C0 as a special key in the note dispatcher I have to press C-1 to get the right trigger.
Of course this isn't a big issue, but if you don't know about it you probably may give up without success.
