Thx for your constructive criticism on MuLab for Mac. MuLab for Mac currently indeed only exists in a 32 bit version and MUX Modular VST for Mac still is not existing, so i take your point. There are reasons. I could explain these reasons (partly an Apple issue!) but i don't think it's the good time and place to do so here, don't want to go off topic. Feel free to ask for it in the MuTools forum though. The relevant note here is that i'm working on a solution, step by step. And meanwhile there already is MuLab 32 bit for Mac. (as well as MuLab for Windows 32 bit and 64 bit)

I only support developers who cover both now, i have both platforms myself and work with others who all use their choice, so MuTools is not even on the radarRobert Randolph wrote:I haven't updated my MuLab license because of this as well.pdxindy wrote:+1bungle wrote:Now if MUX supported OSX
Incomplete OSX support means I'm not even gonna look at it as a possible purchase.
I can't really bring myself to support a developer that doesn't support my platform.

MuLab is available for both Windows and OSX (which I use). A test version of MuLab 7 was just released that enables more synthesis modes through audio rate modulation, a new sequencer/arpeggiator, and other features. Visit the MuTools forum if you are interested.

MuLab is only 32-bit on OS X AFAIK. That's practically useless these days for most of us.Michael L wrote:MuLab is available for both Windows and OSX (which I use). It's a shame too, since it is a pretty cool and unique product.

And why would that be?Robert Randolph wrote:

Why did 32bit become unusable all of a sudden?

Because i have 32 gig in my system and so many choices of hosts that using a 32 bit one would make zero sense, or are you saying that MuLab offers something so outstanding that it negates all other 64 bit hosts that use my available resources, if so, please do tell ?

I don't get that either. But I do think, sometimes, a 32 bit DAW can be useful as an archival scenario...which is what I have here.bungle wrote:Because i have 32 gig in my system and so many choices of hosts that using a 32 bit one would make zero sense, or are you saying that MuLab offers something so outstanding that it negates all other 64 bit hosts that use my available resources, if so, please do tell ?

No I'm not saying that, but I am saying that most people do not use that much RAM or do not need it, and the difference between 32bit and 64bit what performance is concerned for those people is very small.bungle wrote:Because i have 32 gig in my system and so many choices of hosts that using a 32 bit one would make zero sense, or are you saying that MuLab offers something so outstanding that it negates all other 64 bit hosts that use my available resources, if so, please do tell ?
I've always run 32bit Renoise and Reaper and never had any issues on my 64bit OSX, even compared to my 64 bit Live and Logic.
I'm not saying there shouldn't be a 64bit MuLab (there should) but the need for one for some does not justify the claim "[32bit] That's practically useless these days for most of us.". That's just bollocks.

So what you are saying is "I am happy with x32, so most people must not use the extra resources available in x64"
Which is utter nonsense, we are in the time of huge sample banks, and RAM is of utmost importance to the majority of composers (Or are you saying that MuLabs thrust is recording and not composition ? because to be fair it is not even up there with cheaper applications for straight recording/mixing)
The x64 boat has sailed, it is needed, done and done.

I use 32 bit DAWs to archive the 32 bit versions of the plug-ins. I think it can be fun to use them that way

I'd say that which one you ever decide to go with, you'd be happy. Personally I'd pick Reaper though. Why Reaper? Versatility. It can do anything you want any way you want, IF you want. If you don't, it's easy to use with its basic features. And it's way more light than tracktion IMO. You can install it on an usb stick and take it with you where ever you go.Karl the Hermit wrote:wanted some end-user impressions of both hosts.
