In the works.

The question for me is whether 1.3 will:
- be out before your pre-order soundset offer expires
- include a new GUI ( I still just can't get around how ugly it is )

I assume it will be out very soon, but I don't decide these things - new GUI? no idea, probably not, I think the dev has other things to work on first, like creating a working AU version for Logic X.

It screams and growls, it sings and swings, it glitches and whines - and its low end makes my subs go BOOM, a little evening synth funk jam with 3 instances of ArcSynth, with 2 layered patches for the bassline, one of them also playing some inserts in the higher register - and the main lead:

This must be about the best!!!!!! publicity anyone could ever make for a synth. I am already used to much of what you create, but this blows it all out of the water.
Don't be shy and tell the dev he should put this track on his page as super pub for his ArcSyn. Dirty Benny. Ha!

Very cool. Or as they say back in my time, groovy. LOL.

If only I could past the GUI I'd be all over this thing.

There definitely is a new modified GUI in the works (same basic layout, but with more appealing knobs and tonal palette). As Simon mentioned, the dev is hoping to fix the Logic issue, and release a new GUI at the same time. But the two events may have to be separate releases, due to the challenge of the Logic situation. The dev may be a little quiet, but he's dedicated to making ArcSyn the best he can, and stay true to his vision.

It's not that bad after a while but I tend to agree that it's a little unresting for my eyes and taste.

I'm sure the feedback will eventually inspire more skins/themes.
Poly-Ana. That's the one I can't deal with.

It refuses description, allowing only the vague approach of adjectives: dark, light, raw, angelic. Who or what is making these noises? Where are they coming from and what do they point to? What kind of entity can leave such a troubling sonic remnant?

you do know that there are some lovely skins out for the latest poly-ana version, don't you?

edit: sorry for being off-topic. thank you for, once again, great sound examples, simon. i'm looking forward to the new 1.3 version of ArcSyn.

ArcSyn now has a polyphony of 32 voices and a soft clipper on the outs, both very welcome improvements!

Here are 2 fresh arcs in a slightly peculiar experimental ambient sort of impro, video and audio version are slightly different because of the involved random modulators. The ambient sequencer uses several tempo-synced LFO chains with slow LFO tempos and different cycle lengths, resulting in an ever evolving textural mayhem.

Hi, sorry I've been AWOL once again! I've updated ArcSyn to v1.3. It has the following changes:
  • Updated GUI.
  • Polyphony increased to 32 voices.
  • Soft-clipping added to output stage to limit maximum level to 0dB.
  • Over 40 new programs.
  • Over 20 minor improvements and bugfixes.
The last item was the one that took most of the time - I kept unearthing minor flaws and had some very good suggestions put to me while trying to track down the main issue ArcSyn has on the Mac. (Which I'm still working on I'm afraid.) I've tried to fix everything that's been mentioned on here, including the clicking mono chorus, the out-of-tune sub-octave oscillator waveform and so on. Hopefully I haven't missed anything.

The most obvious change is to the GUI. It's an evolution rather than a revolution so if you *hated* v1.2, you'll probably hate v1.3!
