REALLY? No way! I didn't think mulab's user base was big enough for that?! Good on you for sticking it out too, you're doing great job and are one of the best dev's around in both ability and customer relations, very patient man!mutools wrote:Nope. Looong days full time on MuLab and MUX.sl23 wrote:There features would be nice, but I imagine jo has a full time job as well as the mulab project
Any ideas on upgrade price yet? Or will it be full price for all users?

I think time-stretching is great if it's applied to audio parts when you change the tempo (in Tracktion you can set an audio clip to auto-tempo or not, just a switch).
Pitch-shifting can be usefull too, but less often, on an entire audio part, or at the slice level (change the pitch without changing the length), if you have melodic loops that you need to transpose to meet the key of your song.
Time-stretching and Pitch-shifting can also be implemented by drawing a curve, like any parameter.
But what seem to be the most usefull audio feature, is audio warping : slice your audio part, move a marker and the left and right slices are automaticaly time-stretched so you can quickly "quantize" an audio recording, eg a vocal or guitar. You can see it in action in this video of Tracktion 7 at 1:02 :
Ice on the cake (and it can be usefull right now, without these audio features) : the ability, when you are in the sequence editor or the audio lab, to see by transparency a second track of your choice, so you can easily adjust a midi sequence to an audio part, or vice versa.
I know it's hard for a sole person to compete with big compagnies, but you don't need to do all by yourself, but I don't know what is the price for a good TS/PS library/SDK like Zplane (used by numerous DAW including Tracktion, Samplitude...).
Rej, the developper of Caustic on Android, use the Rubber band Library by Breakfast Quay, but not sure this one can be use in real time...
Caustic is 6.99 € and Tracktion 60 €, so I don't think it costs so much ?

As I said before, beware of caustic, I installed it on my Acer S3 laptop and it destroyed the left speaker just by playing the demo at around 50% volume.

Too bad. I have used Caustic on Windows quiet a lot and never had such problem.

What are the workaround or alternative methods of time stretching when using MuLab? I know an external editor can be used, but how would a user assure accuracy from the outside? Any other ways?

Yes, timestretch is long overdue....
With timestretch and a basic video track the package would be complete and highly competetive.
There are Alternatives to Elastique timestretch. In Mixcraft 7 they use Quikquaks COPULA algorythm - with good results.
By the way: better ANY timestretch than NO timestretch.
Beside these points Jo made a very great Job with M7 imho

If you look for a VST, you wight want to consider this:
https://tonecarver.wordpress.com/tcstretch/
I found it today. It is even in 64 Bit available. You insert it in as a VSTi and can load wave Files into the plugin. After some tweaking it will play in sync, if you enable host sync. Then you can create a new audio track and take the plugin´s track as the input. Now you can record the output into the second track. Delete the first track with the plugin and after that you can process the audio file with your (vst)-plugins (f.e. such as Tantra for some movement).

Agree, it's complete turn off for 2016 DAW, really would like to switch to it from Logic 9 and use more powerful desktop PC, but it's just not possible without this basic features, shame really, for free portable sketchpad, sure, but for the main DAW and asking price, no way.DIGIFEX wrote:Well, to be honest, I was considering to switch from Presonus Studio One to Mulab but the lack of audio features still prevents me from doing so.
