how do i change,windows 10, the default folder location for download demo files to an external drive

the default is currently set for the one drive documents folder

when i click on the ellipse to the right of the project folder name nothing happens and i can't select the current name and manually enter a new one

It's more likely a setting in your browser rather than in WIndows 10. If you use Firefox, click Options under Tools, and you can either browse to the folder you want, or get it to always ask you. Other browsers should have similar options.
