Hi
Some additional questions. I had added these to an earlier thread, but I'm not sure how much older threads get read, so I thought I might try a new thread. Apologies if any of you have seen this already.
The original thread can be found here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 2&t=459524
Long and short of it, trying to write a piece under deadline as a way of forcing myself to learn and use T7. Questions/bugs/FRs are posted here for comment or help. Thanks to anyone who can share some insight on these (#5 in particular).
Additional questions (nos. 1 - 4 are in the original thread)
5) [?] Is it possible to turn off automation on a track? Not delete it, just turn it off for a particular track?
6) [?] Is there a midi event list anywhere?
7) [?] Can render clips be set to the project sample rate by default? I do most of my work at 48/24 and whenever I want to render a clip, Kontakt throws a dialogue box asking to be restarted because the render settings seem to be set at a default of 44.1/16 and this differs from the project rate.
8.) [FR] Can edit descriptions in the settings tab include the sample rate of the projects/edit? Yes, we could add that in the descriptions manually, but would it be difficult to just grab that info and display it as part of the info shown automatically?
9.) [FR] Is there anyway to organize the picture-based plugin chooser? (Discussed in original thread)
10) [FR] When you render a clip, can the dialogue/options window have a drop down list of existing tracks in the edit as possible destinations? Extra points if only those tracks with audio assets on them are listed.
FWIW, I'm finding working in Tracktion to be a fantastic experience.
Thanks.

Don't know, but the search box at the top makes it simple and fast to make many unwanted ones temporarily disappear from view.gesslr wrote: 9.) [FR] Is there anyway to organize the picture-based plugin chooser? (Discussed in original thread)
[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.

No, automation isn't really a property of a track, it's a property of a parameter, which in turn is part of a plugin. Whether automation is being shown on a track or not has no effect on if it is active.5) [?] Is it possible to turn off automation on a track? Not delete it, just turn it off for a particular track?
If we were to add something like this it would have to be an option on the automation curve or the plugin as a whole. We've no plans to do that at the moment though.
No, we don't currently have one but it has been requested by a few people.6) [?] Is there a midi event list anywhere?
If you perform a render, the options are remembered so the next render should start with the same sample rate. I.e. as soon as you perform one render at 48KHz, all subsequent ones should start at that. Is that not the case for you?7) [?] Can render clips be set to the project sample rate by default? No, Edits/Projects have no concept of sample rate, they will play back with whatever is requested, either by the audio device or render options. Audio files can be any sample rate and will be resampled where necessary to match the playback sample rate.8.) Yes, we could add that in the descriptions manually, but would it be difficult to just grab that info and display it as part of the info shown automatically?
The "Selector Sorting" option from the "Plugins" settings page also affects the thumbnail-based plugin chooser.9.) [FR] Is there anyway to organize the picture-based plugin chooser? (Discussed in original thread)
This would be a bit fiddly and I don't think would end up being quicker to use than just rendering to a new track and just moving the rendered audio. You'd still need to open the menu and find your target track for each render.10) [FR] When you render a clip, can the dialogue/options window have a drop down list of existing tracks in the edit as possible destinations? Extra points if only those tracks with audio assets on them are listed.

Thanks for taking the time to answer these. It is very helpful!
Just a couple of comments:
A midi event list would be helpful at some point. (#6)
I will retry the rendering. I recall getting that message about sample rate a few times, but I may be "mis-remembering". I'll double check. (#7)
Thanks again!

It saves a step or two IMHO. It's not a big deal. Just a thought.dRowAudio wrote:No, automation isn't really a property of a track, it's a property of a parameter, which in turn is part of a plugin.
