Hi, any suggestion about the creation of a FM synthesis patch in MUX modular? Many thanks,
Gabriele

Hey, you beat me by a minute.
I was just ready to post a 'beginners' audio rate patch :)
Audio Rate Example.jpg
This is the patch i simplified from something else.
It is a simple oscillator modulated from a second oscillator (=Modulator) with anything possible at audio rate. That means PM = Phase Modulation, FM= Frequency Modulation(*) and AM=Amplitude Modulation.
If you exchange the Modulator Osc with a Multi-Form Osc, i propose to start with a Sine PWM or Square PWM table, the PM would become Wavetable modulation at audio rate.

(*) the FM modulation is available in exponential and linear FM. I hope the implementation is correct as i simply waveshape the modulator.

Another note, i wanted to avoid that amplitude mod would exceed max volume, so AM is implemented to reduce the volume when applied. Hence the more elaborate modulation setup here.

Enjoy modulating!

P.S.: The zip contains additionally a little work in progress DX e-piano, for those 80s tribute band players  (guilty pleasure)

These patches are great to take apart and discover how fm/pm etc works, all i seem to get are bad sounding 'bells' and 'tings'

... isn't that what FM's for then? :help:

in the V7, can we make phase distortion, some sync are avalaible?
V7 is a big step for mux !

I can't load Fm Bass.mux and the patches in Audioplay minimal playgraound.
I've 6.5.46 32 bit version.
Thanks,
G

Phase Distortion and Hardsync are available via the MFO

These are M7 patches. M7 currently is in test phase.

Indeed.

And in M7 phase distortion can also be done in realtime by connecting the output of an oscillator (or a sample player or anything that outputs audio) to an Audio To Modulation module, then that A2M module's output to the Phase Shift modulation input of an oscillator, of which the Phase Shift mode is set to something else than Off.

bad sounding sound really good here :hihi:
with a few tricks with audio rate modulation you really get cool sounds 8)

something that sounds like hard sync can be done also with fm

Thanks for the tips! :tu:

thanks :tu:
Edit:
I have attached one of my patch
do not pay attention to all controls on the front panel I tend to overdo it, the patch is very simple using PM and F-FM (filter fm my favorite :) )
I tend to use audio rate modulation in experimental and extreme ways
if you want to build patches more correctly and for proper use of pm/fm etc look at the patch of AndreasD they are properly made
