So anyone who gets active malware on their Mac only has themselves to blame. That's the big difference.

I've repaired Windows Machines where malware has made it through a resident top of the line anti virus, with the user having done nothing other than browse the web.

There is no such thing on Mac, you literally have to give it permission to install.
Lol, this is the most ridiculous statement I have ever heard. If malware needs admin password during infection then the authors have been really incompetent and already failed. Majority of malware actually circumvents all the security mechanisms of the operating systems and this is not different on Mac.

That malware gets past security mechanisms like antivirus software is not unheard of. This is how the security game is played and it is the whole point of malware development. Again, it's not different on Linux nor on Mac.

A brief overview on the state of Mac malware by security research company Bit9 can be found here (for those interested): https://www.documentcloud.org/documents ... -2015.html

But it's all a bit OT.

there used to be 1, now there are two.

Still a bit shy of the roughly 20 million on Windows though.
Understandably. As someone who writes malware, you'd want to hit the majority of computers, hence Windows will be the target no.1. As will be Flash or Java, as those are the most used multimedia interfaces on the net (and not unsecure per se, as some people claim).

Someone will mention Hitler soon and that'll be that.
:hihi: :hihi:

FL Studio Threads seem to be a good starter for Windows vs Mac OS "discussions" considering history...when Hitler invented Windows 3.1

Maybe this OS war ends when it's finally released on OSX as well. :tu:
Can this thread be erased?
Im tired of the fanboys and the clueless know it alls.

Why is Flash being rejected by pretty much every big technology company -minus Adobe itself- these days you think? Because it's an unsecure pile of shite. You can throw the Java runtime on that pile as well.

Because it's proprietrary, and you can achieve the same things with HTML5 now. Same with Java, it has been made obsolete pretty much. At least for internet technologies. Elsewhere it's still going as strong as ever.

My anti virus used to go NUTS on windows, but truth be told, i only ever got an infection once from a floppy disk with a client's song (midi) back in vet anti virus days (a long time ago). Since then nothing ever infected me.

On windows i will ONLY use firefox with adblock plus and no script though, as well as the bit defender addon that screens websites as you visit. And i limit myself only to audio websites, and those i can trust, like KVR.
You obviously have no knowledge on this topic at all. And it has nothing to do with what I think. The published security research is out there for everyone to look up. One of the first large-scale Mac OS malware campaigns (OSX/Flashback/Flashfake) used vulnerabilities in OSX/Java and needed no interaction from user leading to over 700 000 infections on the Mac platform. This was in 2012. Since then the Mac malware has come a long way to become more complex.

You seem to be one of those persons who has installed antivirus in his home computer and suddenly realized that you are now a computer security expert and can lecture people who actually do this for work.

But back to topic. I think there's no point in complaining that Image-Line products suck at MacOS because there's never been a proper support for MacOS. MacOS has always been an afterthought for IL. And that they released MacOS beta for FL Studio is solely down to fact that Delphi incidentally made a MacOS compiler for their programming environment. MacOS development is clearly not a priority for IL and I'm not even sure they have any real competence or interest in this.

And what exactly is it you do for work?
I presume it's doing Google searches.

Your Flashback trojan is a Trojan disguised as an installer, so the user still needs to approve the install, which is exactly what Theo explained.

Computer security expert my ass.

Lol, you obviously can't even do Google searches as then you would probably had found out that it was only the first variant of the malware strain that masqueraded as fake Flash installers. Later strains exploited several vulnerabilities to install silently through drive by downloads.

Oh my, only hope i never end like some people here which believe to have a better life because they once bought an overpriced mac.

(See i stay on topic..) :hihi:
Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours.

The two don't contradict. Apple is a phone manufacturer that happens to sell a line of computers. Those computers make up a very small share of Apple's revenue and Macs are completely outnumbered worldwide by computers from other manufactures.

That said, the number of Mac users here (KVR) will undoubtedly be a lot higher than the average, as music and graphics are what professionals and prosumers buy Macs for.

i listen to dom of bitwig when he says something along the lines of.. FL studio on mac os x is a long long long way away.

I have tested these alphas as they release on 10.11.1-3 and most have lasted a minute if that before I encounter major (not minor) bugs that literally halt making music. I know its alpha but to me these alphas seem so early based on how long they last before crash. However, everytime I report a bug in the alpha it is fixed in the next release, so its slowly peeling back the layers of when can I somewhat use this alpha to make a quick 4-8 track clusterfudgems to actually test fl studio on mac lol.. to me unless you can get 4-8 tracks going your still very early in alpha.. i mean who can finish a song with just 4-8 tracks these days anyways? (please dont answer that lol, because there are obviously audio professionals that do many tasks with 4-8 tracks)
Bitwig 6 • Diva, Dune, Serum, and UVI Falcon are my Daily Drivers • Drum Machines • Harrison 32c + DSM 3 + American Class A Enjoyer • Apple M4 Max • Apollo User • DJ • Dance Music is life
