I have been playing with Andreas' "minimal playground" and adding/changing stuff and its hitting my cpu hard.
Even if I copy/paste the Polysynth numerous times within the original patch the cpu meter doesnt come anywhere near where it does with my altered version.
Can anyone explain why mine is so cpu intensive. Bear in mind I'm only playing so this patch is nothing special.
Sorry Andreas for messing with your patch

Hi bibz1st
the audio to modulation converter consumes a lot of CPU even when not connected to a source and is only connected to different destinations,
I had already noticed this in one of my patches , is the same thing that is happening to your patch
in the patch that I had previously post avoid this using different ATMC modules such as switches
but you're using two modulators simultaneously for the same destinations and many modulation mapper so I think the problem is there
maybe better to wait for the Jo help to solve this

That sounds like a bug to me. Has it been posted in the M7 thread?Taifunk wrote:the audio to modulation converter consumes a lot of CPU even when not connected to a source

Thanks for taking a look, as I say, I'm just playing with this so its no problem really, but obviously if it is a bug then its good that its come to light.
That fake sync patch, I like it but is there any way to make it more extreme and get it to 'scream' so to speak and your front panels are always very nice and neat

I did a quick check on the Audio To Modulation module and it does not seem to take extreme cpu here. Note however that audiorate modulation does take a lot more cpu than non-audiorate modulation. That is unavoidable and a typical drawback of audiorate modulation. About the patch bibz1st posted: Indeed it takes quite some cpu compared to Andreas' patch because in Andreas' patch the audiorate modulation is done in the polysynth so when playing no notes there is no audiorate modulation going on. In bibz1st patch however the audiorate modulation is done on mux level and so it's always active. When i loaded bibz1st patch i started deleting modules one by one and the cpu went down quite proportionally so it is not a single module that takes it all but it's just the combi of all those modules that consume the cpu. I don't see anything wrong at this point. But maybe i'm missing something. If so let me know.

This explains different things in fact I did exactly the same thing, loaded the patch and eliminated modules one by one and noticed exactly that consumption of the CPU has dropped significantly ,it is useful to know that outside of polysynth the audiorate modulation is always active this clarifies everything.
I did several tests until now and I have never encountered problems except this but there is a strange thing, maybe I'm wrong but it seems that the consumption of the CPU is increased slightly with the 7.11 version
You can verify this Jo?

of course, the sync is simulated and is a little more complicated,
but you can still do something that screams
I try to change the patch and make it more angry, try to make a patch that MUX screaming and speaking

I've checked the change-log and don't see anything that could explain an increased cpu usage as of 7.0.11.Taifunk wrote:maybe I'm wrong but it seems that the consumption of the CPU is increased slightly with the 7.11 version. You can verify this Jo?
I've uploaded version 7.0.10 again (Win32/64 in galaxa webfolder) so you can verify it on your side too. (or are u on mac?)

ok I did some tests, tried several projects with vst and several patches
7.0.11 10% 15% more of 7.0.10
deleted everything and then installed 7.02 and update 7.0.11 problem solved now seems to consume even 1% less
This is really weird
the settings are the same as previous installations (Also in asio4all 512samples 48khz)
I tried the same projects now no longer it occurs the increase of cpu

Thanks for the new patch Taifunk, am not at my comp so cant try it yet.Wrt the cpu business, I did suspect it may be something to do with the polysynth, I think I put things on a mux level because I wanted a 'modulation out' and there wasnt one for polysynth. No worries I was just messing around

I do the same thing with modulations outside the polysynth , build sub patch is very convenient both to save space on the front panel (a sort of sub front panel) also to use mux as a sort of real modular but the only problem outside the polysynth is that the modulations are monophonic
for polyphonic modulation a module output from a polysynth is required but I think this is not possible
however, I am building a monophonic synth and at the moment it seems that works really well
I also built some sub patch to be used as a modulation source whit a matrix and and also something to have a sub panel for meta parameters , soon have something to share.

Nice patch TaifunkTaifunk wrote:I modified the patch now screams a littlebibz1st wrote:That fake sync patch, I like it but is there any way to make it more extreme and get it to 'scream'
Note: I noticed a redundant meta-parameter 2 on the front panel.
