I wouldn't want them in my VST folder because some hosts do a scan every time they start after a boot and more files just means slower loads.

I don't think hosts will scan anything else than the .dll files, hence it won't slow it down.

And how do they scan ? By looking in a folder.....if they have to scan past a non .dll file then....we'll you can take it from there. Sylenth has hundreds of patches. I don't want to bloat my VST folder with them. Imagine if every plugin you own stored hundreds of patches in the VST folder.......messy.

Anyway do whatever you wish but only files that must be in my VST folder reside there. Beside who backs up their .dlls every day ?

As an example:

It seems that Albino3Banks and Microtuning folder always need to be right along the plugin's DLL file... I'd like to have all the presets and necessary plugin files placed outside of my VST plugins folder. There are thousands of files/presets/scales in there, and this (believe it or not) actually makes Reaper load slower than it should (because it enumerates files in the plugin folder/s before it scans for changes in DLL files etc. - and we cannot disable this unfortunately!).

Do whatever you like. I like to have the accompanying files in the VST folder. The topic was the scanning though. I don't know if other hosts do what Reaper does too, so i can't comment on that further.

OK, so I had better not chose my VST folder for those resources My VST folder is too big already, lots of crap in there that came with my DAW

I created a new folder in the appdata directory, because I back that one up, anyway.

Update worked fine, still sounds great
There is a 2 second freeze now whenever my DAW starts up, that is new, but I can live with that

Now that there is an additional layer in the menu system, I finally force myself to use Shift-L for loading patches
Strange that Saving patches is Shift-P instead of Shift-S, which is not used.

The best thing for me is that the phaser works right now. No longer being afraid of forgetting to turn it off and on manually so my speakers won't fall apart with bass patches

I wish the mousewheel would work with Alt pressed in order to set fine values. Using Alt plus mouse sucks.

Did you update to 3.010 ? I just got a message that the update is available, I thought LD was going to take out the scan for updates "feature". I'll have to search some older posts to see........

Hmmm I thought Sylenth would no longer connect to the internet at it's own will looking for updates. I'll block it from my firewall and see what happens..........

Given the "frequency" of Sylenth updates automatic checks don't make sense, anyway. It's not like with Windows updates where we get dozens of fixes every month

The LFO sections have the copy and paste feature as well now, nice

I wonder why they inverted the order of the osc waveforms, that will take me some time to get used to
And while I appreciate the drop-down list of waveforms, they should be in black, not yellow on white, which makes no sense at all.

We've redone the key shortcuts in v3.0. It's Shift-P for saving Presets and Shift-B for saving Banks. But you can just edit the Settings.xml file to change these to your likings. Click MENU -> Open Data Folder, then open the Config folder to get there.

You can hold Shift to set fine values while dragging.

You can change this behaviour in the Settings.xml file:

The 'remember' settings are:

Sylenth1 will not remember which folder you last loaded presets from, it'll just always open and save to the folder set in "path"

remember="1"
Sylenth1 will remember the folder you last loaded presets from during the time it's run, but it'll not save the folder, so it'll revert to the folder set in "path" after restarting your DAW.

remember="2"
Sylenth1 will always remember the folder you last loaded presets from during the time it's run, even after restarting your DAW.

Having no path set, it'll use the default Presets and SoundBanks paths in the data folder.

Sylenth1 will check for updates only once in a several weeks. It'll do this in a separate lowest priority thread, so it's absolutely non-intrusive. Since some updates are important, especially since v3.0 hasn't been released too long ago and since then already 10 updates were necessary (and there are more to come), we don't recommend using a firewall to block this.

Yes, the shortcuts are a bit odd in my view, some are like with standard programs such as Word, which makes sense, others are not. I will change most of them For instance I don't want to waste the S for changing the size, which I never do, I will use it for saving like in Word.

Just noticed that there is a check for updates entry in the configuration file as well, so if you really must, you can disable it there.

A little feature request regarding shortcuts: an option to overwrite a preset. I spend a lot of time on optimizing my existing patches, so it is a bit cumbersome to get that dialog box every time asking me whether I want to overwrite the patch.
With such an option and an associated shortcut one would not even have to open any folders to save the patch

Actually, it would be safer that way because when I use the regular save option, I get to my patches folder and might not even remember which patch I am tweaking. Unfortunately the patch name does not show up anywhere when one does not use banks. So I sometimes have to abort and save the tweaked patch as a new patch in order to prevent overwriting the wrong patch.
