i purchased biotek a couple of weeks ago and installed it. everything was fine and then i saw the update. i nstalled that. the next day i opened up t7 and loaded in an instance of biotek and the gui was completely black! there was nothing. also, the demo hissing sound was audible! i know i registered it. i sent a message to support, but they haven't replied yet. it's been almost a week. any thoughts to what i could have done? i have tried it with my other daws and it's the same. i also uninstalled it and re installed. i am on windows 10 if that helps.

Just to be clear, what version of BioTek are you running now?
If you opened a ticket with support are you sure the replies haven't gone to your junk folder? We usually reply within a couple of days.
Can you post the ticket number here so I can check?

my request says 6209 . i have the email, but it's not letting me see the ticket. i bought the original biotek, then updated to 1.6. and no email from tracktion was in my junk folder. thanks.

Seems this is caused by video graphics issue, I fixed mine by updating Java. Also Dave at BioTek/Tracktion sent me a file to disable OpenGL. And it works even better now, you may want to open a support ticket at tracktion and request this .

Disables it how? If on a system level that could be problematic and many apps and plugins use Open GL.

As far as I know, there isn't a generic way to disable OpenGL "on a system level". It's baked into your graphics drivers. Apart from maybe uninstalling the graphics driver for your hardware. So I wouldn't really worry about that. It'll be a tweak to tracktion or Biotek.
"my gosh it's a friggin hardware"

Yeah, inside BioTek you can turn the use of OpenGL on or off depending on what best suits your system. This is just a setting we check when the UI launches.

We've found recently however that some graphics cards/drivers are having compatibility problems with the OGL we use so isn't displaying at all. The file I sent via support just disables this setting outside of BioTek so it will launch using software rendering.

This will probably be fine for most computers but we found using OGL on newer, high-DPI displays and especially Retina Mac's gave a huge performance boost.

Also note that all this only applies when the UI is open. This has no affect on the audio processing or general CPU load with the UI closed.
