A Question the impulse waves in 64 bit how are they used in the subscription presets?
They are an option to substitute the internal noise generator, just drag them into a an empty audio track and route them to KS.
Okay that's what I've done with my next Kaleidoscope effort. Still the waves in 64 bit won't import into Logic just those in the impulse files folder.. So the 64 bit waves are perhaps used for making tuning maps?
Yes, the 64 Bit waveforms are used inside KS, when set to waveform tuning, not musical tuning, it's another way of tuning the resonators, you can use these waves in Serum or Falcon's WT synth though.
And many of the subscription presets use these waveforms, just have a look around and pay attention to the tuning section.

Okay thanks for the info, I remember that detail about the tuning, derived from a file, though it seems like black magic to me right now. I'm now doing my Kaleidoscope experiment using an impulse from the subscription set 04 I have both white noise and the impulse sound file mixed which seems to give a slightly fuller sound.
waves break, but somehow it all makes sense.

From such a waveform, KS calculates rather abstract tuning data which is then applied to scale the resonators, depending on the number of partials/duplicates you're using this can either sound very atonal/abstract or very basic/dronish (with lot's of duplicates applied), and often it sounds totally wonderful when the right waveform was extracted from a given file, be it an acoustic instrument, a field recording or an electronic sound.

Okay thanks for the detailed reply! It's not that difficult once it's explained by an experienced Kaleidoscopist..

I've just made my first Falcon instrument with 6 Kaleidoscope generated sound files six notes using the transpose menu in Kaleidoscope sounds very good to me. This is much easier than trying to use the Kaleidoscope as an effect. No real CPU penalty either.. Now back to the Set 04 to see what I can discover..

Great, that's my Wade! So you're working through each set, one by one? As you're still working with set no. 4, wait what sets 5 - 11 have to offer :)

I think it if you just use the presets more or less as is trying different impulse sources you can quickly move through the library say 2 years !

LOL :D

Here comes a minimal ride with 2 presets from the next set/2 instances of KS processing the same synth sequence (which you hear at the beginning on it's own).

Two KS presets from the upcoming set in action, processing an ArcSyn sequence from my soundset Arrows, some ocean waves and a vocal texture:

Post

Microtonal soundscape composed of 3 instances of Kaleidoscope using presets and assets from the upcoming set, some external FX was applied (MXXX/ÜberMod/B2), audio input was a modulated noise sound (Falcon) and an ArcSyn texture.

Can't get much more new-agey than this - a single instance of Kaleidoscopce using a preset from the upcoming set, processing various modulated noise sources, the tonality and rhythm is created entirely inside the plugin.

I'm getting some great rhythmical textures and bass lines out of KS again, tonight for the first time I created an image with 5/8-rhythms after having done other odd time signatures before, it's quite groovy I must say...

Here is a jam with 2 instances of KS using 2 presets form the upcoming set, processing modulated white noise and a spring drum accent which plays every 2nd bar.

Live on video: two presets from the upcoming set - one instance of KS processing one of my Falcon beats, the other one processing some modulated white/pink noise.

Here comes the release info for subscription set 12:

Kaleidoscope Subscription Set 12 uploaded on March 31st - 2016 containing:
  • *69 Presets
    *31 images

Here is another track I made this morning when finalizing the presets:

Stay tuned...

Three instances of Kaleidoscope with presets from the upcoming subscription set no. 13 composing something rather strange - input sources are modulated brown noise (Falcon), a synth texture (ArcSyn) and a short vocal loop.
