I requested a manufacturer's forum from KVR using their official form and also by a direct email but haven't heard anything since. I assume it's something they assign low priority to but it'll happen eventually.davidka wrote:It would be viable for the dev to open a forum over here and have separate topics, what do you guys think?

Yes. (!) I spent a *long* time experimenting with different random modes. The one I settled on only does small adjustments to the majority of parameters. You could probably come up with a better one but it's very time-consuming to experiment with as you have to click the button dozens of times every time you make any adjustments to the algorithm. Quite often, I found that you'd make an adjustment, click once and get a brilliant sound, then click another 25 times and get 25 unuseable sounds. Random is random!liquidsound wrote:One thing I noticed is that the Filters with Random don't move much. Is there a reason for?

i would love small on/off switches on for the effects

Hi there layzer, I like your design a lot. ArcSyn isn't set up for the user to easily be able to change the skin (especially on Windows where it would involve using a resource editor which isn't allowed under my licence terms) but I'll look into introducing such a feature. It wouldn't be easy though, as apart from other considerations, some of the GUI colours (like the LFO display) are hard-coded in. I promise to look into it though.layzer wrote:ok, for those interested in this GUI, i did some more minor adjustments
while getting my hair cut at the barber shop today.
darkened the sliders a bit to match the knobs better and some
minor highlight detailing.
i am happy now the way it looks for my own use.
if Steve ignores me, i'll probably only share it with
those sending me a PM asking for it.
.......and shoot with the "i like the original better" comments

I don't know if you're aware of it but the effect labels ("EFFECT-1, EFFECT-2"...) work as simple effect on/off switches. By simple I mean temporary - the on/off status isn't saved as part of a program.Caine123 wrote:i would love small on/off switches on for the effects!

There's a couple of reasons why I didn't do this. One is that ArcSyn currently allows any character in a program name, which VST2.4 doesn't support, AFAIK. The other is that a plug-in has to inform the host how many programs it's got when it first starts up - ArcSyn loads it's programs individually off disk so doesn't know how many there are at that point.urlwolf wrote:FR: please expose the current preset to the daw. Right now arcsyn lives in its own little world and this causes problems. It's fine if it doesn't use fxb, but when loading a new preset the daw should know. The daw should be able to change preset.
I think there are (partial) solutions to both these issues, so it's something I'll look into changing.

a 'random amount' setting, per parameter, would be ideal. there are various ways to implement that depending on your GUI preferences.

ArcSyn has 840 parameters so that sounds like a bit of an overkill. My feeling is that adding extra random modes might be a more practical idea. A mode which randomises *most* parameters 100% is one obvious option I tried during development (the "nameless things" on my SoundCloud page were done that way) so I'll look into adding that mode back in, maybe by splitting the random button in two?Daags wrote:a 'random amount' setting, per parameter, would be ideal. there are various ways to implement that depending on your GUI preferences.

Here is my last track for the current soundset I have been working on for many weeks now and which will be released tomorrow late afternoon (still on discounted pre-order until the release, website with more info will be updated tomorrow).
4 ArcSyns, some volume automation and a limiter on the master output:

Over and out, ArcSyn rocks!
