Electro-acoustic dark wave

***************************
Truly mind-boggling music! - New album out! - And a blog!

Post

Trance. Powerful and somewhat sophisticated. I never make tracks that are clones of others.

This in particular is oldschool uplifter inspired by 2002-2004 works of Nu-NRG duo... with some modern twists :ud:

I'm a big fan of classic rock and Beatlesque pop songs. Although it may not seem like it, this example composition may have been influenced by my repeated listenings of certain "poppy" songs by the Pixies and Nirvana.

Okay so, here is remix #4 of my song (done in between games of speed scrabble, using the "Podium Free" DAW and only freeware VST plugins)

https://soundcloud.com/harryupbabble/fg-remix-4

I'm pretty happy with my (amateurish as usual) latest remix but I'm never totally happy with the (even more amateurish) lyrics:

Here comes that girl, the one with the red hair.
She is a pearl, a gem, a rare thing.
I can't believe she's really here.
It just seems wrong.
She don't belong nowhere near this place, this zoo, this cage.

Last time I saw her, she was staying.
And now it seems that I was wishing.
I do believe this place is home.
But she did not, did not belong nowhere near this place, this zoo, this cage.

Gone is that girl, the one with the red hair.
She was to me a bird, a free thing.
I do believe she's gone for good.
It's not so wrong.
She didn't belong nowhere near this place, this zoo, this cage.

This place, this zoo, this cage. This zoo, this cage.

I find it easier to create the music first then the lyrics later but I find fitting lyrics to music incredibly hard. I challenge anyone to write their own alternative lyrics to my song. Maybe writing lyrics is natural to other people.

All sounds very good Dave.
The second track (Blue) wouldn't be out of place on the Festival in the Desert 2003 album - hypnotic groove.

a lot of my work is slow and a little sinister, I am not sure what the genre names would be though - there are so many nowadays. I often like to finish a piece with a "punchline" of sorts so I guess they tend to be like a story that takes time to get in to

I generally make noisy drone/ambient/glitch/experimental/industrial style tunes with Bitwig studio.

I would love to focus on writing industrial metal music though, but i need to buy a new electric guitar first.

I add my production stamp to jams I've performed in - engineering, mixing and mastering the recordings. What genre? Well... I don't decide that.

Lots of examples...
I randomly listened back to this one, which is experimental: http://www.drealm.info/ninjam/20150912- ... mutant.mp3
A more recent, more ordinary track with far less happening: http://www.drealm.info/ninjam/20160319- ... shawnf.mp3
I don't remember this one but my write-up sounded good, so try it: http://www.drealm.info/ninjam/20151114- ... theo_h.mp3
And something chilled with more people on board: http://www.drealm.info/ninjam/20150705- ... Manu_Z.mp3
