I demo'd it briefly long ago, and remember i quite liked its sound. Just fired it up, and fiddled a bit, and still like the sound, much.
Very snappy and organic. Absolute no-brainer with the voucher.

I just whipped this techno style demo up while messing about with 3 instances of A.c.e and Drumazon. I used Presswerk on the master as a limiter.
It can sound pretty big if you want it to.

I got it (late 2010?) because I was looking for a synth (any synth - soft or hard) that could do the sorts of sounds I used to make with my analog synths. I was disappointed with my Novation "analog" synth because it had lots of aliasing. Even my Moog Voyager had terrible pitch bend jaggies. I tried various free VAs and they all sounded terrible to my ears...they had stepped pitch bend, aliased filter sweeps, horrible sync sweep, and didn't have any VCA attack balls AT ALL. I was really quite desperate! Then I read about a new VA that was just released on the world that sounded like a real living analog synth, so I went to the site and downloaded the demo. I was struck immediately by the fact that I could get gorgeous, smooth and crystal-clear resonant patches to sing with ACE. In my tunes on Soundcloud people were saying "that obviously must be a real analog synth" because my patches tend to emphasize fast, wide pitch-bends, dynamics, high sweeps and all the things that early VAs couldn't do. I was hooked on U-He. That was the moment I realized that my future was in the box, and it was a bright and happy one.
I use ACE for pristine, clear, silky-smooth lead voices, but also I'm slowly discovering new things that surprise me (ACE is full of exploratory fun).
When I got ACE she changed my life dramatically, and since then, U-He has been the primary technical influence on my music.

1)I missed it for year or two thinking it's just Bazille Diminshed until I've heard some demo by Howard. Then I've realized ACE is very much synth of it's own with distinctive capabilities. So everything has happened here on KVR.
2) I think oscillators and modulation are calling for evolving sounds like pads/strings etc
Plus ACE oscs are sound a bit less brushed in comparison with Diva and there is pre filter gain so it sometimes a bit more raw.
3) Please, please, please can we have less squelchy and more pleasing filters

Bazille is not trying to be a virtual modular analog - I think of it more like a virtual digital modular.
ACE is U-He's modular analog (though to be sure, she can do digital tricks). I think of her like my old Roland analog. I think she sounds charming and sweet.

1) I got it because it always seemed interesting, great sounding and fairly flexible (the reason why I probably didn't get it before is because I love great flexibility like with Zebra and I thought that I didn't really "need" it) With a limited flexibility as I discovered from Diva, there is certainly a greater degree of FUN... with ACE, man, I didn't had this fun for some time with a synth!
There are more reasons why I decided to get it before but these are probably the main ones for now.
2) Tricky question. ACE seems "all over the place" , I probably use it for experimental stuff especially when I want a GREAT "digital" yet warm/analogue kind of sound. I also imagine making some great chip-sounds with a "hi-fi lo-fi" sound if that makes any sense... transforming an LFO with the tap-map into an OSC really cool here.
3) I love the filter drive+resonance character, right from the beginning!
I also love how clean the modules (especially which suppose to be modulators) sound, I really like the look and feel of it.... the workflow is inviting for fun and exploration in a flexible yet wisely-limited environment. ("limited" flexibility like when comparing with Zebra for example, yet ACE can be very flexible where Zebra doesn't reach)
I love modulating at audio rates!
I'm totally with you
I think most people do not realize the potential of this elegant synth.
Although there is a small matrix, inside is hidden a lot of mystery!㎑

About bazille - In general, most people do not really have a desire to get into something that looks very complicated when you can bring them something very easy to programming.
It's really a shame, people are missing here richest musical instrument.
I personally think this is one of the best vst synth ever made.
I Think all the companies that make vst modular need to do more and more tutorial, publicity and make the gui with more delicious style and friendlier (to make people to love modular ), i really want to see in the future more Modular like (buchla 200e System 7,Easel-K, EMS Synthi 100(pin matrix), arp 2500, Fénix II- III, Serge and more extreme/experimental and complex modules).
I was exaggerate with my requests HI hi hi
Sorry about changing the subject!

Greetings,
ACE was the first u-he synth I purchased. I'm a Linux-based musician, so the Linux support was the first selling point, then the price. I'd checked out various demos, thought it sounded pretty sweet, so I bought it. Later I purchased Hive and Diva, and I've collected the u-he freebies as well, all in native Linux format. Bazille and/or Uhbik are next on the list. Or maybe Presswerk. Or something else from u-he.
But of course, the sounds are where it's at for me. After testing some of HS's patches I wrote these two pieces, the first of which uses ACE alone, the other uses only ACE and Hive. These pieces/presets show off ACE's more mellow characteristics.
One synth, one patch, one track :

Two synths, two patches, two tracks :

The cables interface isn't really attractive to me, but ACE is beautiful.
Best,
dp
