Genres are overrated, and no idea what to call this...

Or this...

Eventually something intelligent will appear written here. Watch this space.

I am another "I try to produce lots of different types of music" guy. I'm finding out sometimes "diversity" can mean "lack of musical identity," but I'm working on it.

Some of my stuff is classical-influenced: https://soundcloud.com/nine-of-kings/robopera-wip
Some of it is influenced by 90s alternative: https://soundcloud.com/nine-of-kings/art-factory
Some of it is more poppy (now mostly w my band): https://eatcrepes.bandcamp.com/track/si ... ona-lisa-2

Still others are dance or hip hop influenced, but I've already posted too much

Excited to hear your contributions!

Hearing everyone's music is great. We should have a forum dedicated to this. Maybe call it "Music Cafe" or something. :ud:

I work in a very random and semi-improvised manner with little or no planning. I often base some parts on a preconceived idea or a riff, but mostly push record and let go. Recording layer upon layer of improvised stuff. So what direction my tracks goes are random most often, but sometimes I can decide to go for rock and a couple of times I've tried making trance, but fell into one myself and made something... else. I've been trying to begin composing things, but I don't have much free time for music, so each time I have a opportunity to make music I start jamming.

Here's an example where I had decided to make a rock track, including guitar, bass guitar, an organ or two and drums: https://soundcloud.com/spaceslab-go/sur ... re-vaporum
And here is an ambient and twisted piece I made for a christmas special collection:
https://soundcloud.com/spaceslab-go/the ... ing-dreams
And here is one where I tried to follow the inspiration I have from bands like Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulse:
https://soundcloud.com/spaceslab-go/loc ... nd-visions

I'm trying my best to make good mixes and some here have tried to help with tips and even complete guidelines, which I have read and tried to implement, but the next moment I forget myself and fall back to turning the volume to 11 and let it rip. I try to make my signal clean at the moment of recording though, so I can at least go back to make an attempt on making a better mix.
Anyway, I just make music for my own pleasure, mostly in the act and those few who maybe finds enjoyment in listening too. I often use that as a sort of excuse for not learning to become better at both music theory and mixing. I just lack discipline and dedication.
(Now I must stop talking about myself. Enough already...)
Edit: I could have sworn I read a question in OP about how we work, but on rereading I think that I must have dreamt it... So sorry about going OT

Yet another opportunity for self-promotion ;)

I've finally found myself in psytrance. I'm producing more melodic kind of it, with some goa infuences, like this

https://soundcloud.com/recursion-loop/r ... s-mastered

Sometimes I need to get some rest from it, and then there are some broken beats

You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Mostly 80s styled funky cheese with an occasional foray into acid house or even New Jack Swing :-o

I produce several different genres. Not sure how this would be classified, but it's not New Age, as one person claimed:
https://soundcloud.com/garryknight/land-of-no-tomorrow

This one is pure electronica:
https://soundcloud.com/garryknight/emerge

And this, my latest, is melodic, uplifting trance:

I like this. Nice one.

Can kind of understand why someone might consider this new age though, but right now i'm wanting to call it World Electronic. er something. :phones:

Thanks. I think it was purely on the basis that it starts with some kind of temple bell. "World Electronic" - I like it! :)
