It reminds me when Native Instruments went full retard many years ago and decided to make a "shiny new" website that was basically 100% Flash. Horrible experience it was.

Oh god the back button on the browser takes you back to that annoying front page animation so you can't even navigate using proper conventions. The only way to go through pages is either using the mousewheel or those little white circles (which are invisible on some pages) but since they don't actually tell you what each page is navigation is largely guesswork. Really bad design! I tried using Evernote Clearly to make pages more readable but because they don't have real text all it showed was an image.

Wow. I read your criticisms and went to the T website and the market place and experienced none (as in zero) of the points you made in the first post upthread.
Mouse wheeled ok.
Back button took me back.
I'm on a desktop win10 machine if that makes any difference.
Very pleased with my experience with Tracktion since V.1.
(except for the white waveforms {would prefer black})

That's not even possible. It appears that you don't understand what any of the issues are.metrognome wrote:Wow. I read your criticisms and went to the T website and the market place and experienced none (as in zero) of the points you made in the first post upthread.

The fact that the mousewheel is required IS the issue. The very fact that you say the mouse wheel works is an excellent example of you not understanding what is in the OP.
If you click a nav-bubble or scroll, the back button does not take you back to where you were previous to that. Try and use the nav-bubbles on the right then use your forward/back buttons. You're getting a 'new page'... but you can't go forward/back!
I'm also surprised that there's no animations on the site for you, or that the "Workstations" menu takes you somewhere, or the frontpage has a demo link for you, or the website has a completely different colour scheme for you, or none of the animated backgrounds work for you, or it only mentions 1 version of tracktion for you, or you can somehow select text on the website, or you're somehow using a version of google that no one else here has access to, or...

I often have discussions on 'modern styled website'. Many webdesigner seem to regard themselves as autonom and not to be responsible for the well beeing of the visitor.
Only the one example: light grey text at less light grey background is an absolute no go.

I hate the website's (and T7's) colour scheme. It's dark as muck and I don't like everything dark, dark, dark! Yuck! .
I have no problems re. useability. I do not have to use the scroll wheel. I just click the menu on top to go to my account page.
The only thing that's hard for me is the login page; I have to ctrl-a the page to see where the input fields are. They have no contrast and that is bad!
(Psst! a little trick: I save the download link and change the digits to download newer versions directly.

A large portion of my criticisms have nothing to do with whether or not I like the website, but how poor the website functions for other people. The criticism extends well beyond whether or not I like the website, so responding with 'I like it' makes me wonder if you've actually considered what I wrote. With that in mind, I'll simplify my question to you.
Do you think these issues I listed are acceptable from the point of accessibility, new users or people looking for support?
Mature discussion? I think we've gone through this dance at GS.
I'm not criticizing you. I'm just saying I like it. I don't have the issues you claim to have (though I can certainly understand someone w/o mousewheel being challenged) and I find it not bothering at all.
It's called a difference of opinion. Not an attack. I feel that you just want everyone to agree with you and if they don't, (picture the axe

I was going to say the same. Simple solution: take the design philospohy of Tracktion and apply it to the website.terminus_one wrote:Very much agree on the need for simplicity for their website…
As others have suggested, here's a radical idea: Tracktion, the DAW, employs a "powerful, single-screen" paradigm for "simplicity and immediacy" – maybe this same paradigm would help the website? It's still possible to make it sexy, polished and joyful – a bit like the DAW itself!

Let's try a simple one (of many) then. Do you think Tracktion 6 is their flagship product?incubus wrote:Robert Randolph wrote:I was sorta hoping for a mature discussion between folks that'd like to see TSC succeed.incubus wrote:Why? That's one of the issues I listed, and I'm curious how you don't have that issue.

I listed quite a few issues that aren't even a matter of taste. Things that are functionally broken or factually incorrect. Yet you somehow respond that "I don't have the issues you claim to have". I'm curious how this is possible.incubus wrote:Robert Randolph wrote:I was sorta hoping for a mature discussion between folks that'd like to see TSC succeed.incubus wrote:Why? The new site looks all very fancy and fresh, but I agree it's not totally user-friendly. For me that's down to clarity of information, ease of navigation, and smoothness of presentation. I think it's smooth enough - no long load times here - but the clarity leaves a little to be desired, partly because of the layout, and the navigation suffers from that too. For example, when I look at the info on T7, I can't actually see all the text, because I'm on an older 1400x900 screen in the studio, and because there is no way to scroll down the list of features, I simply lose that info. I'm no fan of the current trend for animated backgrounds, or of whatever it is that means the downward scroll instantly switched to the next 'page'. It might be touchscreen friendly, but it's bad if you have sight issues or a relatively cramped display. Style is not everything.
