Yes i think it makes sense to limit the minimum velocity to 1, at least in the step sequencer, will apply that in the next version. For now i won't touch other velocity-related areas in MuLab / MUX though.

In the step sequencer I found useful set the velocity to 0 just to highlight the beat
this is a little freak but it works, maybe there will be a better way to do it in the future?

Interesting point. In the next version i've made sure that the step leds that are on beat (depends on the Steps per Beat setting) have a subtle coloring, cfr this preview:

Thanks Jo, that's great!
This is really helpful :tu:

So i'd rather push the user to be creative with MuDrum than to give him the false impression that there are all kinds of preset drum kits for all kinds of music styles, and so he may not find what he's looking for and maybe give up. So focus is on creativity and creating your own drum kits that match what you want.
I don't think it's a good thing to remove things that were already there. The rock drum kits were great. Don't really understand your point.

I have played a little with the effects presets. What is the "Basic step sequencer" preset for ? You can't do anything on the panel ?

Playing with the Start Kit is as simple as clicking the left/right arrow buttons at the right of the sample name, this will step thru all available drum samples. So in fact the Start Kit is virtually a zillion possible kits. I think it's much easier to step thru the sounds for the kick, snare, etc than to step thru preset kits, which relatively load slower, and the chance that there is a perfect kit with 12 perfect sounds is rather small, so you'll have to scroll thru the individual drumpad sounds anyway. Of course if you find a perfect drum kit for your needs, you can save it as a user preference, that makes much sense.

I don't understand what you mean. Are you saying the controls do nothing on your system? Note that the step sequencer always needs input note events to drive it.

I added 2 play buttons to that front panel, that will give more instant fun and hints about the usage:

Ok, i added an extra Rock Kit preset.

Ok, I see what you mean for the starter kits. Thank you for the rock kit anyway.
For the basic step sequencer preset's panel, I was unable to do anything in the cells, they were just grey and can't do anything with the mouse in them. Will retry ASAP... I tested on Windows 10 with the 64 bit plugin in Tracktion 7.

It looks okay in Reaper. Load it up into the Basic Synth Modular view, wire the incoming event feed to its event input and its event output to the Poly Synth, then tap in a pattern and hold down a note.

Mmmm, lots of fun :).

I have tried MUX 7.0.20 32 bit in Mulab 7 and Tracktion 7 32 bit, and it's the same for the Basic step sequencer preset : just grey cells on the front panel, and can't do anything with the mouse. The only thing that lead to a reaction of the front panel is when I right-clik : the cursor changes into a hand, and it seems that I can drag lanes up and down but I don't know if it's intended or usefull. Will wait for the next MUX package...

Do you see raster line on the background? If yes then you're in front panel edit mode. Could it be that?

Post

No, I am not in front panel edit mode. And I only see the lanes with the cells, I don't see the upper part with the step numbers... very strange...
