things become more clear now !
Um they just advertised it, no one has even heard it yet apart from a few beta testers. Why do so many say, that it's one of the most powerful synths?
I do wish their advertising had less snake oil and more facts.

Are you guys alowed to post some sound demos? Would be 100 times more interesting for me than the marketing blah. Of course, only when it's allowed, don't want to enforce NDA-breaking stuff here.

from my experience with Tone2 support, they certainly act like the bs is the truth. an understated truth in fact. i like some of their synths though, the ones that are different enough to like ...

"This synthesizer can do literally everything:"
It's amazing that there is no longer any need for Kontakt, sample libraries, Bazille, Aalto, Analogue hardware, Diva, Reaktor, etc.

i'm not giving up spire, hive, etc for this. but it is an impressive synth; for me, the best one yet from tone2. can't post demos...that's under their control, but that's all coming soon. like any plugin, you have to decide for yourself. i'm really picky; right now, i use 5 or 6 synth plugins...out of the 15-20 i own (or owned). this one's a keeper...

Same here. Without a doubt on my top 5. Do wish we could show some sound demos though.fisherKing wrote:i'm not giving up spire, hive, etc for this. but it is an impressive synth; for me, the best one yet from tone2. can't post demos...that's under their control, but that's all coming soon. like any plugin, you have to decide for yourself. i'm really picky; right now, i use 5 or 6 synth plugins...out of the 15-20 i own (or owned). this one's a keeper...

I posted this some pages ago, of course it's only interesting if you're into ambient and Berlin School music, if you are interested in other genres, I'm afraid you'll have to wait for other demo tracks, though... In any case, I agree with the others who have tried it, it's in my personal synth charts, definitelychk071 wrote:Are you guys alowed to post some sound demos? why did Tone2 select you guys as beta testers though ?
they certainly don't randomly select them from a pool of people, so presumably you're already connected with Tone2 in some way shape or form, either beta testing for them before, or providing presets for them, or loyal customers, or a combination of all those things - etc, and maybe some 'pro' beta testers in between. In otherwords, Tone2 aren't likely to select beta testers who are likely to have a negative opinion on Tone2 in the first place, either in terms of sonics or otherwise.
basically I'm taking a huge serving of salt with all the beta testers telling me how great this thing sounds, because quite frankly I don't believe you'd have found yourself beta testing for Tone2 if you were not already primed or inclined to have a positive outlook on the company's work to begin with.

I applied as a sound designer, not a beta tester, but you don't have to take anyone's word for anything. Just test it when it comes out. No worries.

i've beta-tested tone2 synths for several years; i offered my services (i've beta-tested for a good number of developers). but my opinions are my own...as are my opinions of the other plugins i've tested. i've wound up keeping none of them...except icarus. and that's all there is. i will always say what i want, and believe...Daags wrote:why did Tone2 select you guys as beta testers though ?

I don't know about the others, but I was chosen because I'm irresistibly sexyDaags wrote:why did Tone2 select you guys as beta testers though ?
Not to mention the fact that I'm a Borg
(OK, I started working for them as a sound designer for a Rayblaster soundset and, for the record, I hated it, it sounded horrible to me. Except that after some work with it I realized its unique approach could generate sounds I had never heard from any other synth, and I loved it. Then I worked on a few soundsets for Nemesis: it was instant love, that synth is a beauty. I'm preparing a soundset for Saurus, a simple synth with a very defined personality, I like it. And now Icarus, and yes, I think it is great. Am I biased? Yes. Because I work for them? No, I work for them because I love their synth. Therefore, my opinion is just like anybody else's: if one loves something, he'll say it's great, if he hates it, he will say it's crap. So no difference between my opinion and anybody else's. Except that by making sounds for it, I know it much, much better than most people will, so perhaps I speak with a better knowledge of it than others. I'm also making a number of albums with it, so I know it as a musician, too. Let's just say I know what I'm talking about, and that doesn't mean that it's the right choice for everybody, but it will be for some)

I had reviewed some of their other synth plugins for SoundBytes magazine, and beta tested their products. After that, I made presets for them which ended up in some of their synths, and in their soundsets.Daags wrote:why did Tone2 select you guys as beta testers though ?

like what you have to do on this forum for U-he products, btw I beta tested/sound design their early products. They didn't pick me because I was gonna promote their stuff. Also you can get the synth for free if you beta test. That was a good enough reason for me.
