I don't know about the others, but I was chosen because I'm irresistibly sexy
Not to mention the fact that I'm a Borg :borg: The combination of the two things can do wonders for a company.

(OK, I started working for them as a sound designer for a Rayblaster soundset and, for the record, I hated it, it sounded horrible to me. Except that after some work with it I realized its unique approach could generate sounds I had never heard from any other synth, and I loved it. Then I worked on a few soundsets for Nemesis: it was instant love, that synth is a beauty. I'm preparing a soundset for Saurus, a simple synth with a very defined personality, I like it. And now Icarus, and yes, I think it is great. Am I biased? Yes. Because I work for them? No, I work for them because I love their synth. Therefore, my opinion is just like anybody else's: if one loves something, he'll say it's great, if he hates it, he will say it's crap. So no difference between my opinion and anybody else's. Except that by making sounds for it, I know it much, much better than most people will, so perhaps I speak with a better knowledge of it than others. I'm also making a number of albums with it, so I know it as a musician, too. Let's just say I know what I'm talking about, and that doesn't mean that it's the right choice for everybody, but it will be for some)

Your well laid out logic and reasonably constructed argument will get you nowhere around here mister, especially out of the watchful eye of biased suspicion. :uhuhuh:

Nice track by the way :) My impression judging from your track, is that it has a clean/clear sound mostly. I have heard such sounds especially from Electra. Sure there are some enhancements, but it still in the Tone2 way I guess, which might be a good thing of course.

NI Massive and Blofeld still my favourite wavetable synths regarding the sound, can Icarus cover this area?

For other digital sounding synths that are great IMO and I have doubts that Icarus can cover them: Bazille, Razor and FM8 (and maybe Absynth). But nothing can answer my questions/doubts than a demo of the synth itself, so lets wait and see ;)
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Hey, I was serious! I resent that! :P

Thanks :) Please remember that these sounds only represent my personal taste, Icarus can sound very different depending on the person programming it. It can sound dirty, aggressive etc, it's just that I love its crystal clear sound, so I tend to work based on that :)

electraX (later 'electra2') was my fave of the tone2 synths; i recently phased it out (i change my setup about every 6 months). icarus seems...a lot richer, deeper. why i've added it to my arsenal.

anyway, as we all know, it's ALL subjective. the arguments on the forums here prove that. so, i know i don't need to convince anyone of anything. you try something out, it resonates for you...or not. and all this keeps music (in general) interesting; our preferences, about sound, style... it's all good.

did i mention icarus sounds great? :D

The one demo I heard did sound very good. This one is definitely on my radar. Currently the only Tone 2 synths I own are Rayblaster and Electra 2.

Well said :)

Icarus comes with free personal support as well as frequent, free updates and improvements.
Would be nice if that was true for Nemesis too. Not one update since it came out (apart from a small compatibility update for Windows 10).

Sounds like more marketing talk. Probably means there will be some bug fixes and if you need technical help they'll try help you out. I'm not expecting anything more really.

I just checked the pattern of updates for their other synths and it seems this is not a company that usually does 'frequent updates; - apart from Electra 2 many of the updates seem to have been Windows only which is disconcerting, is Mac not a priority for them?

when i've had issues (logic X, so a mac), they've asked for crashlogs...then fixed things...with an update.

Irrelevant, dude. There's got to be a fly in the ointment somewhere, if we just dig deep enough. Aside from that, they clearly lied in their marketing, and everyone knows that this isn't the one synthesizer which rules them all anyway. I mean, really, who are you trying to fool with stuff like that? Us experienced, and intelligent people who use synthesier since years? How could they! Now excuse me, i got to drive my premium car with exclusive interior, and unique design to the nearest gas station, to fill 'er up with the premium, refined to the finest combustible they sell there.

Btw, it's absolutely ok to not like Tone2's marketing, or to have something against the company in general. But why post it here continuously, and spoil it for the people who don't think like you? Is this Facebook? I mean, it's totally fine to bring up a valid point of criticism, but i don't feel like this is happening here. Instead we get another ridiculous display of reluctance against the "big bad industry", which once again manifests itself in a small company, run by a handful of people, who certainly don't drive Ferraris, and certainly didn't pick the industry where you can make the BIG MONEY. So, what is this about? Self-display, feel-good stuff? Don't get it.

OK but I'm not seeing that in the updates list on KvR unless there have been zero bugs or updates haven't been added to news? (but also my account doesn't have anything for Nemesis).

You're making this something that it isnt - I'm asking legitimate questions.

i don't understand how these threads devolve so quickly (arcsyn thread, for example...and this). it's a plugin. if you like it cool. if not...that's cool too. lots of other synths to choose from.

my experience with tone2 has been fine, one of the reasons i started beta-testing for them. and icarus is their best moment yet (imho). try it. like it. don't like it. then get on with making music...with the tools that work for you.
