It keeps getting in the way when I try and line up clips - makes it hard to see the end of the previous clip.

Can you double-click near the track name? Or does that maybe make the track height too small?
[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.

It's OK I found if I sort of come at it from the top it doesn't appear - it would be useful to not have it though, does anyone actually use it? Don't see the point of it really, it just gets in the way.

If you double-click on a MIDI track name, it puts you in MIDI edit mode. If you double-click again, it takes you out of it. You don't need to be in it to shuffle MIDI clips around. You're probably in it for another reason.

Ah yes but the midi keyboard and toolbar pops up if I mouse over a midi clip regardless of whether I'm in midi edit more, it probably shouldn't as it's pointless unless you have the editor fully open.

Now that's odd. It doesn't on mine in T6. I've got T7 demo, let me try that. No, it doesn't do it in that either. I don't know what to suggest. When my track has the same height as the others, I don't see the MIDI keyboard.

You can turn that behavior on and off using MIDI editor...setting under OPTIONS.
(also, via shortcut key ' single quote.)

That turns off the toolbar but the keyboard stays.

It seems I have the tracks quite wide, if I make them narrower it goes away, I'll just have to do that I suppose, I like having them wider though. Still I don't often need to line up clips.

Bizarre. I didn't run into this with my demo of 7.1.1.

The only really weird thing I ran into was the "rack" showing in a blinking mode when I went to "settings"

You won't unless you have your tracks quite wide by default, which I do. I like to see the midi notes, just don't want or use the keyboard.

Hi
Unless I've misunderstood your problem,
you can't hide the keyboard, but you can keep it to the left of the track instead of the clip:
settings/ midi devices/Midi pop ups
also, Options/Clip view options/Show clip names, (they can get in the way when lining up midi notes)
and as mentioned before: Options /auto show midi editor toolbar.

Thanks - yes I did see and try that but it also drags the midi toolbar to the side (it seems to be stuck to it) which is unergonomic.

you can hide the tool bar, and all you'll be left with is the keyboard at the left of the track.
over the years I've asked for all the tool bar functions to be added to the right click on the mouse, but as yet with no joy, I feel the midi side of T is not one of TSC higher priority's

I know but I do use that, just not the keyboard.
