Indeed awesome. Problem is, while I got the Custom Shop to open, I can't get SampleTank working. Neither the VST, the VST3, nor the standalone want to open on my rig. And Reaper is usually very forgiving.

Have you tried to open it in a different DAW just to check if it can be Reaper, or not?

ST3 is only 64 bit, can that be the problem?

Good things come to those who wait :). Glad I didn't spring for the full ST3 for this purpose.

Okay, here's what seems to be going on.

The VST3 version doesn't even show up in either Reaper or Sonar X3.

The VST2 version crashes both hosts. Something about an initialization problem. It indicates that it might be in authorization, but I did in fact register ST3 with the Authorization Manager. I have a crash report on my HD, if necessary. Trying to send it to Cakewalk through their built-in app... crashed the app.

The standalone doesn't start. Or, rather, it starts, but doesn't show up on screen, and then the task just sits there, taking up 219.8 MB of system RAM and not closing when you try to end it.

The older version of ST3 Free has, of course, been overwritten. It's gone.

Ok, then I get it you updated the Sample Tank 3 CS now, and it stopped working :(

Think I'll cool it a bit then, for IK to iron out the teething problems...

Sounds like a plan. I've already installed (and uninstalled) it three times. That's enough for one day....

I would report this issue you are having to IK Support as it is not the typical experience. This update 3.6.5 (also the full version based on the same code) has been available and downloaded/installed by quite a few since April 6th so it doesn't sound like a "first day glitch". I'm sure support can assist you in rectifying this issue.

For the record, I had a problem with a previous update and had to downgrade to version 3.6.0 to have ST3 working again. The guy from tech assistance was insisting that the problem was with something else, and wanted me to make some kind of crazy thing with my computer (which I didn't because I was sure it wasn't), then when I told him that I had solved the problem by downgrading he was like insisting that I should still do what he was telling me to - even after i have insisted that the problem was with the update. Since then I never updated it again. I am still at version 3.6.0 and plan to remain there for as long as I can. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Sorry that you had an atypical experience with the update and didn't feel that support's suggestion was appropriate in order to fix it. Yes, there will be cases where people have issues with an update and support can identify and help figure out what is happening for you in order to get those with specific cases/issues up and running with the latest version of any of our products.

Installed SampleTank 3.6.5 (the all year edition :D )

I only installed the VST2, not the standalone or VST3

I have managed to load it up quick and easy in FL Studio 12, on Win 10, 64 bit

Menu got the import Legacy instrument option, now I just need to dig out the old libs :hyper:

Whew. Now I don't have to eat my hat. Or that crow that's perched on my window sill. :)

Not to diminish the reported issue filkertom has with this version, nor that of fmr with a previous version of course. I hope they are able to get those sorted as soon as possible.

Oh, mine is sorted already. I remain at version 3.6.0 and do not plan the leave... Anyway, my version already had the import functions, so, there's nothing there for me in the new version, anyway. Had my dose of problems with the DB rebuild, losing patches, having to rebuild the DB and all that, just to find that it was an update problem. You really should have an option to allow the user to just point to where the sounds are (no matter in which HD) and have the installers run smoothly on THAT location. The problem I had was that the update insisted that the library wasn't installed, and asking me where the installed files were (even if the library is there, I simply had the HD's letters changed). Version 3.6.0 was working. Version 3.6.2 (I think it was that one) simply refused to run. I tried everything I could think of. Finally, I got tired of that shit and reinstalled 3.6.0 - everything was fine again.

I also had problems in the past updating the library, and had to launch hand of all my resources and imagination to "convince" the updater to run (It involved copy the entire library to another location, update it, and move it again, if I remember well). It's like there is some key in the registry that tells the updaters where the files were first installed and where did they came from, and if they aren't there anymore, everything becomes screwed.

Also managed to import my Vintage Keys Collection quite easily, just needed to give it a name and point the importer to the folder where the Instrument files are.

We all bitched and moaned about not being able to import Legacy libs in the free Version of ST3

And when it happens none of us notice, quite embarrasing really
